Shortly after the new High School Building was completed the students from the old Central School was moved to the Junior High Building, and the third grade and below moved to a small building next to Old Junior High.
I was in the third grade when we moved. One day our teacher, Miss Johnson told us we were going to move. She had some screwdrivers and pliers. We all began getting our desk loose from the floor and started taking them outside. I don't know where the desk went from there. We never saw them again. Mrs Johnson, our third grade teacher was also our fourth grade teacher. She married Sweeny Webber in the summer between our 3rd. and 4th. grade. A new Central school was built on a city block between North Third and North Fourth Street and West Vandervoot and West Altena.
We moved back to the new Central School building when I was in the fifth grade. Miss Mattie Leslie, an old Maid, was our fifth grade teacher. The Teachers Names that I can recall were Mrs Nina Smith (Schull,) Miss Jury, Mrs Cora Pullen, Mrs. Wright, Miss Carol (Lake)"Taught Music", Mrs Johnson (Weber,) Miss Mattie Leslie and Mrs. Wille Leslie.
I think Mrs Willie Leslie was married to Miss Mattie Leslies' brother
