I went back to the hotel and got ready. I was somewhat disappointed considering, I was missing out on my one-year anniversary and I couldn't even contact Nick to cancel tonight. Tonight was supposed to be special. We had made it through angry fans and the constant paparazzi for one year. Tonight also would have been the night, I revealed to Nick the news I'd been trying to keep inside for so long. I guess I'll have to wait till next week to tell him. I'd finally be flying back home.
I arrived downstairs in the lobby with one of my bodyguards and met Donna outside as we got in the limousine and headed for the Plaza Hotel, for which the event was being held. I went in the shook some hands and had to make a little speech also. One that I had whipped up on the ride over there. I met some interesting people, including actors Ben Affleck, and Tom Cruise. They're were many big celebrities, but none caught my eye, like Josh Hartnett. He isn't nearly as famous or anything as the rest of them, but we discovered we had a lot in common. I found myself enjoying the time I spent there. Part of me felt guilty, because I was supposed to be with Nick celebrating, but instead I was talking with another guy. By the time dessert was being served, my stomach was in knots, thinking about Nick. I excused myself from the evening and told Donna, I needed some rest.
When I got back to the hotel, I immediately dialed up Nick's hotel number. The phone must have rang for five minute with no answer. "I guess he's asleep already," I thought to myself. I'd try calling him again tomorrow.
Well, I kept trying to call him tomorrow then the day after and throughout the whole week. He never answered the phone. I was starting to worry about him, but then I thought I'd just talk with him when I got back to Florida.
"Nick, baby, I'm home!" I yelled as I walked through the front door.
"Denia?" I heard him say from upstairs.
"Yeah, sweetie," I said walking up. I heard him bustling around inside our bedroom as I went to open the door. I opened it to find Nick with another girl. They looked like deer in the headlights, while my heart just fell. I knew what had happened.
"Denia, we need to talk," said Nick as he threw a shirt on.
"Hell yeah, we need to talk!" I screamed at him as he closed the door behind him.
"Listen Denia, I don't know how to say this, but it's over."
"What?" I said in disbelief as I felt tears come to my eyes.
"You weren't there for our anniversary and I went out and met someone."
"You mean that psycho bimbo, right?" I said heatedly.
"Denia, you can't talk that way about her. I think I love her."
"How can you love her? You barely know her! She's the stalker that's been following us and now she's finally gotten to you."
"Denia, I can love her. You weren't even there for our one-year anniversary. Where were you anyway?"
"I was at a benefit and I called you from the moment I found out to the days after. You never once picked up your cell phone!"
"I left it at home, Denia. I thought it would interrupt our evening so I left all my contact stuff at home."
"I still love you, Nick. You don't know what we have together," I said breaking down.
"We had a really great time, but Sara's the one for me. We have everything in common and she knows everything about me. We have a connection."
"No, Nick. What you have is an obsessed stalker!"
"Denia, you can't just call her the stalker, just because of what's happened. She's a really good person and you can't just say that."
"Nick, I'm not lying. She really is the one from the bushes and the mall," I said.
"Denia, I don't want to hear it. We're through. Besides, you never wanted me in the first place," said Nick coldly.
"I always wanted you and I love you. You still love me."
"No, I don't anymore."
"A week can't change that. You can't fall in love in a week."
"Well, Denia, it's called love at first sight."
"You know what Nick? Screw you! No, you're screwing her! I hate you! You deserve her. You're both fucks!" I screamed at him as I left the house.
I got into my car and drove around for a while trying to process what happened. "Nick had dumped me. Nick had dumped me for the stalker. The same stalker that had scared the hell out of me for the past few months. Nick didn't love me anymore, and that meant…and that meant he didn't love the child inside me either," I thought to myself as I drove to a park. "My life is over," I said to myself. "Everything is over," I said again as I put the car in reverse and aimed it towards a large palm tree and put it in gas again. I hit the pedal and watched the speedometer hit 65 miles per hour and then blackness.
