I put on my robe and headed downstairs to make some breakfast for Nick and me. I was walking past the window, when I saw a girl a few feet away from me hiding behind the bushes and staring at our house with a pair of binoculars.
"Nick!" I yelled. I was scared. How had she gotten past the to foot steel fence that surrounded the property. "Nick! Come here!" I yelled again, as my hands trembled.
"Denia," said Nick rushing down the stairs. "What's wrong, baby?"
"I just saw someone in the bushes staring at the house."
"Are you sure?" said Nick as he walked over to the window.
"Yeah, I'm totally positive."
"There's no one there, Denia."
"Nick, I'm not even joking. There was a girl hiding behind the bushes with a pair of binoculars. She had vibrant red hair and was there in a green shirt."
"Denia, calm down. There's no one there," said Nick as he let his eyes wander around our bushes and lawn.
"Honey, I'm really scared. I mean, I saw someone there. Can we please call someone?"
"Denia, we have a ten feet high steel fence. It's impossible to get over that," said Nick.
"Nick! I'm telling you what I fucking saw, and if you don't believe it, then fine!" I yelled. He was being really insensitive and it was pissing me off. I was ready to break down and cry. I was so scared.
"Denia, take it easy. I do believe you. It just sounds a little surreal, that's all. If it'll make you feel better, sweetie, I can call the police and have them check it out, okay? Please don't get upset, Denia. We've been having a great time. Please don't let this upset you," said Nick placing his hands on my arms.
"Oh, Nick. I just feel real insecure right now. Can you call the police? I'm just not going to feel safe, until I know that she's gone," I said burying my face in his chest.
"All right, baby. I'm going to call the police now," said Nick as he went to get the phone. He called the police and they arrived within ten minutes. They searched the whole three acres of land we had and came up with nothing. I was relieved yet even more upset, because I was afraid she would come back. I understand that fans can be obsessive, but invading our home was crossing the line. I told the police my concerns and asked if there was anything they could do. They suggested changing our security code for entering past our gates and also placing barbed wire and motion detectors near it. Nick must have thought I was crazy, but I called people that day and arranged for them to do so. I paid for it of course, because after all it was I who felt unsafe, so why should I make him pay for something he didn't need. I don't know why, but in my heart it still lingers. The thought of something breaking Nick and me apart and somehow in my mind, I knew this could be it.
