Chapter 5

(MaKentreey's POV)

I turned around and was about to go to my next patient, but I jumped back surprised when I found that two girls were at my side.

"Well hello there," I said. They looked very familiar. Then it hit faster than a shark attack, I realized I was looking at my daughter, my baby girl. My heart skipped a few beats and I looked at her. I wanted to take her in my arms and tell her that I would never leave her again, to tell her that I love her. But I couldn't, I couldn't tell her who I was, it was in the agreement, and I would never hurt her like that, she didn't need to know I was the mother who didn't want her.

"Can we talk somewhere private?" Leela asked.

"Well…I'm kind of busy," I looked at them. Leela seemed excited. Ajaieanna terrified.

"You look just like me," Ajahieanna said starring at me. Her voice was quivering. I looked at her, trying to hide my emotions.

"Well…I guess I do a little bit," I answered. "Umm…I have to go." I said.

"Are you my mother?" she asked before I could turn around and leave.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, where are your parents?"

"You've got to be my mother, we look just alike. My Daddy told me you had died; he must have lied to me, made a mistake, or something. I ask about my Mom a lot, he hates it when I do that, but I've got to know, can't you see that? Then Leela told me about seeing you yesterday, we've been looking all over for you," I stood still, it was like my brain cells had stopped functioning.

"I'm sorry, I'm not your mother, I'm sorry she died though." I gave her the best smile I could manage. Big mistake. Ajahieanna said frantically,

"See, you are my Mom, when you smile, even your teeth look exactly like mine! I'm not making this up!"

"Ajahieanna-" I blurted out.

"How do you know my name?"

"Because your father told me." I thought. "Your friend mentioned-"

"I never said Ajahie's name," Leela said triumphantly. It was clear that Leela was enjoying all this drama.

"You liar! You didn't want me when I was born, and you don't want me now! How could you just abandon me like that? Was I so awful that you didn't love me just a little bit?"

"I-"

"You don't even have the guts to say that I'm your daughter, even after I've stayed out of your way for nearly 8 years! I hate you!" she cried, tears running down her cheeks.

"Ajah you don't know what happened I-"

"I don't care what happened! I know you just lied to me, told me that you had no idea what I was talking about, that you weren't my mother!"

"I'm sorry Ajah; your father didn't think it would be a good idea for you to know,"

"Don't tell me your excuses, do you think I'll be stupid enough to believe them anyway?"

"Ajah, the only reason I ever lied was because I didn't want to see you hurt,"

"Yeah right, you don't give a damn about me, you never did and you never will! And that's fine, because if you don't want me, I don't want you, I never want to see you again, I hate you!" Then she ran away, with Leela on her heels. A man that looked all too familiar stopped her in the middle of the hall. A.J. was here.

"Daddy, how could you, you lied to me, she isn't dead, and she's standing right there!" I heard her choke out as A.J. picked her up in an embrace.

"I'm sorry baby, I thought it was for the best,"

"No…" she muttered. A.J. looked over at me. He walked over to me.

"You planned this didn't you?"

"What? No! They came here A.J. I swear,"

"Yeah, but someway you had it planned."

"I'm not that cruel A.J., I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize her happiness."

"Tell me what happened when I was born daddy" Ajah pleaded.

"We'll talk when we get home. "

"Daddy?"

"Yeah baby?"

"I don't want her in my life, not now, not ever," I watched my world fall apart. My own daughter hated me, wanted nothing to do with me. I couldn't blame her, who would want me as a mother.

"Okay, she doesn't have to be, it's just you and me," I felt the tears glistening in my eyes. It was my own fault, I deserved this.

"Ajah, why don't you and Leela go out to the car, it's right up front, I have to talk to your mo-, to MaKentreey," She nodded and they made their way to the elevator. "Can we talk in private?" he asked. I nodded and led him into my office. "You didn't plan it did you?" he asked.

"No, you know I didn't"

"You met her though, and I guess it's good she knows the truth,"

"Yes, she deserves to know,"

"I don't think she meant what she said," he said softly.

"I do, I think she meant every word."

"If she wants you in her life, I won't object to it, but if she doesn't…"

"I understand,"

"I'm sorry for accusing you of setting this up,"

"That's okay,"

"Listen, why don't I come over to your place tonight, we seriously need to talk." He said.

"Yeah, we do, what time?"

"Around 7 I guess,"

"Okay, I'll see you there,"
