“How was your night, Denia?” asked Lila as she plopped herself down on the couch.
“It was really great. You were right. I had a great time,” I said smiling as I sat down next to her.
“I knew you would. Are you guys going out again?”
“Hopefully. There’s something about him, I just can’t get over. When I saw him, it was like the funniest thing. For some reason, I thought I’d seen him before.”
“You mean, besides in the movies?”
“Huh? What are you talking about? Movies?”
“Denia, you do know he’s Josh Hartnett, right? I mean, I thought you knew.”
“Josh Hartnett? It’s not really ringing a bell,” I replied. “Did you know?”
“Of course I knew. Jared told me that one of his friends was Josh Hartnett, but I didn’t really care too much, because Jared’s more my type. I thought you knew.”
“I don’t. What movies has he been in?” I asked.
“Well, his most recent film is Pearl Harbor. We went with Liz to see it in the theatres, remember?”
“Oh! He’s played Danny, right?”
“Yeah. I can’t believe you didn’t know.”
“Well, he didn’t say,” I replied.
“Whatever. Anyways, Liz left a message on the answering machine for you to call her,” said Lila handing me the phone.
“Isn’t it too late to call?” I asked.
“Nah, she only called about a half hour ago, from Cali. You know there’s that time difference there. Go ahead and call her.”
“All right,” I said as I punched in her number. I heard the phone ring two times and then she picked up.
“Hello?” she asked.
“Hey Liz. It’s Denia. I got your message and decided to call you back. It is it too late to be calling?”
“Nah, I was just watching a movie with the guys.”
“Oh, okay. What’d you want to talk about?”
“Well, I’m going to be in Minneapolis next week. I was wondering if you wanted to hang out. You could like show me the sights,” said Liz.
“That sounds wonderful! I can’t wait to see you again. It seems like your never home, anymore.”
“Well, I’ve recently been on tour with Alex.”
“Oh, he’s a singer, right?” I asked not quite remembering.
“Yeah, he’s a singer. He told me to say ‘hi’ to you.”
“Oh, tell him I said ‘hi’ back,” I replied.
“I will. Anyway, the guys hope you’re doing well. Nick was wondering how you were doing.”
When I heard that name, I got shivers for some strange reason. His name had a negative connotation. It was as if, I was afraid of him, or his name at least. “I’m doing fine, Liz. I met a guy tonight,” I said smiling.
“Really? What’s he like?” she asked anxiously.
“He’s really sweet, and intelligent and funny. I really like him,” I replied.
“Well, that’s great and all, but what’s he look like?”
“Well, he’s tall with brown hair and deep brown eyes. I could get lost in his eyes.”
“He sounds cute.”
“He is cute. If you met him, you’d think he was cute too.”
“What’s his name?”
“Josh. He’s like 23. It’s only a few years older than me.”
“Yeah, he’s like Alex’s age. We’ll have to all go out sometime.”
“Sounds great. I’ll ask him about it.”
“Well, I’ll see you later. Do you want to come to the concert in Minneapolis?”
“Sure. What’s their names again?” I asked.
“The Backstreet Boys. You probably hear them on the radio.”
“Oh, sure. They sound kinda familiar. Umm…Liz, I hate to cut this short, but I’m really tired, so I think I’m gong to turn in.”
“Oh, that’s okay. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Okay, bye Liz.”
“Bye Denia,” she said before hanging up. I placed the phone back in the kitchen and walked towards my room. Lila was already in hers. I changed into some pajamas and couldn’t help but smile as I thought of Josh. I went to bed, smelling like his cologne. He smelt like heaven, pure heaven.
