In the silence of the night a whispering wind blows the creaking door of the cottage open slightly. The sound of the door breaks the silence and Olaf rises to the door to bar it shut. When he gets to the door he notices two black rats are outside near the door scampering about with intentions of getting inside the cottage. Olaf kicks at them and chases them away from the door. As he does the rats then begin hissing as they are luciferic demons embodied as black rats. Their eyes change to fiery red as they peer back at Olaf. Olaf then swiftly closes the door after a look of shock and disbelief flashes across his face. He says nothing about what he had seen.
On the next morning Rosenkreutz prepares for another day of his journey. Olaf and Elsa give him extra salt, water and bread that he may take with him. He thanks them for their hospitality and gives them a blessing that the Love of God may be with them. He turns and leaves while once again he resumes his traveling. He still has some distance to go before reaching the Carpathian Mountains. Finally he does arrive at the foothills of the mountains and stops to rest while sitting on a large rock. He then reaches in his sack for the salt, canister of water and bread. He takes the bread and breaks it into small pieces and begins eating. As he is eating he notices the red rose that he picked earlier has fallen from the sack and onto the ground. While looking down on the rose there suddenly descends a white dove upon the ground near the red rose. Rosenkreutz begins to feed pieces of bread to the dove. After a few pieces of bread the dove moves to the rose and picks it up with its beak. The dove then takes flight. It moves towards the sky and passes in front of the sun. As it does it transfigures into a golden dove and the red rose changes into a golden rose. Rosenkreutz then remembers that the Divine Sophia told him that a dove would feed from his hand and would be his guide to the wise man. [ Exoterically the dove has always been a symbol of peace. Esoterically it is the symbol of the human soul. In the above scene the transfiguration of the dove is a symbol of the human soul that is regenerated by the Light of the Christ Impulse and again the golden rose is a symbol of the EGO-I AM.]
Rosenkreutz follows the dove along various paths that lead up into the mountains. Finally, they come upon a small hut that is well hidden in the mountains. The golden dove still retains the golden rose in its beak as it hovers over the hut momentarily. Suddenly, the dove transforms into a small but brilliantly golden sphere of light. After a few seconds it bursts into a flash of white light and then vanishes. Rosenkreutz’s eyes are fixed on the scene for a moment as if mesmerized by it but then soon focuses his attention on the hut in front of him. He now approaches the hut slowly. As he approaches the door he notices that the wooden makeshift door is already half open. Rosenkreutz has the impression that this individual already knew that he was coming to see him. There is a small table with two wooden chairs. Atop of the table a small candle is burning that manages to dimly illuminate the inside of the hut. Rosenkreutz is already one step inside of the small hut while he stands to observe the inside. He looks around throughout and sees that this hut has a dirt floor and nothing in it but a wooden table, two chairs and a candle for lighting. In a corner of the hut is a very dark shadow that the burning candle has failed to illuminate.
He continues his observations when a soft gentle voice but with a tone of authority tells him to close the door behind him. He complies and closes the door then turns back around to face the figure in the dark corner. Slowly the blind man steps out from the shadowy corner and can be seen clearly by Rosenkreutz. He is a tall man, bearded and with long flowing dark-brown hair down to his shoulders. His eyes are the eyes of a blind man. He is wearing a long white garment. He tells Rosenkreutz to sit at the table and that he has been expecting him. Rosenkreutz doesn’t ask how he knew but the expression on Rosenkreutz’s face clearly shows that he senses that this individual is an extraordinary individual. Both now move to the table and take their seats facing each other while the candle light softly illuminates their faces.
