The foundations to our society are rather more compplex than your "one god" religeon. I will try to keep as simple to understand as possible. I have broken down the foundations in several parts for easier reference.

PRIESTS AND PRIESTESSES "Hiereos tou Hiereia"

1) They must be born to 2 living parents, who are citizens of the city state. They can not be adopted.

2) They are taken to live at a young age. Usually about the age of 10.

3) There is a special consecration rite (hieromenos) when they reach the age to properly serve the temple.

4) They wear there hair long and always wear a head band that indicates the type of diety they are serving: Black for cthonlic dieties and white for Olympians

5) They wear pure white robes with an animal skin thrown over there shoulder and never where footware.

6) They always carry a staff and about their waist hangs a key to the temple. Noone else owns a key.

7) Anytime one walks past a temple or holy site, one stops and faces their palms to the area, as a way of giving respect.

THE SANCTUARY "Tememos"

1) A sactuary is claimed when a certain sign is found on the land, such as a lightning bolt strike, or natural fountain, or out-of-place rock.

2) Unwrought stones lay joust outside the sanctuary as a means of protection. They are called called "Argoi lithoi."

3) Within the sanctuary is a tree and from it are hung disks called "Oscilla." They are sacred gifts from the priest/ess.

4) There is only one entrance/exit out of the sactuary and it is guardied by a grounds keeper.

5) Just outside the wall of the sanctuary is a stone basin of water that all must wash there hands and feet in before entering the sanctuary.

TEMPLE

1) Before the temple is built, a special offering is placed under the foundation of the temple. Usually food and a clay poppet.

2) Once built, there is a special ceremonial blessing called the "Hydryein."

3) After the ceremony, a fire from a hearth is brought from another temple. It is from this fire that all other fires are from. Should the temple hearth go out, the temple is abandoned.

4) There is a lamp that hangs from the hieghest rafters of the temple. It is a offering to Hestia. It is always kept burning.

5) The structure of most temples are as follows; the pronaos "entrance," the Naos "inner temple," The Adyton "where the priests and oracle reside."

THE ALTAR "Bomos"

1) The sides of it are decorated with volutes, garland and wool fillets.

2) It has a hole in the center of the top to hold liquid offerings.

3) Francincence in offered at it every morning and night.

RITUAL PROCESSION ORDER "Pompe"

1) Basket Bearer "Kistephoi"

2) Water Bearer "Hydraphoi"

3) Fire Bearer "Pyrphoi"

4) Bough Bearer

5) Sacra Bearer

6) Musicians and singers "Molpoi tou Tragodoi"

7) One who wears a mask

8) A clown-like mummer

Purifying order "Kathairen"

1) Someone with fire walks about the circle.

2) One with water walks about the circle three times.

3) One with incencse walks the circle three times.

4) One with salt walks about the circle three times.

5) One withe the sacra walks about the circle three times.

6) Water is passed to each to wash there hands and feet.

7) A winnowing fan is waved about each to rid impurities.

8) The Aspergis is usee to sprinkle holy water on each person.

9) A onion is rubbbed on the skin to ward off negativity.

10) the priest is purified.

NOTE: This may sound like a Wiccan ritual. Infact it is. The modern Wiccans took this ritual and modified it to their means.

GRAIN BLESSING

1) All take a handful of grain.

2) Prayers and wishes said infused into the grain.

3) The grain is atlast buried or thrown into a fire.

NOTE: In some cases, the grain will be sprinkled on the animal totem to be sacrifice.

FOOD OFFERINGS

1) The foods to be offered are placed in special ceremonial pottery.

2) After the pot is filled, it is buried or summerged in water.

SEASONAL OFFERINGS "Horea"

1) A bit of everything the season had brought is placed in a basket and offered at the altar.

MONEY OFFERINGS "Thesauroi"

1) Money is places in special wooden boxes and buried.

VOTIVE OFFERINGS "Anathemata"

1) The image should be hand-made by the person making the offering.

2) the image is MOST of the time buried or buried, but sometimes it is hung in the temple for one year. These images are often of body parts, like hands or legs. Sometimes a whole statue.

LIBATION OFFERING "Sponde"

1) The liquid is poured from a cup into a sacred bowl while a prayer is said.

2) Cup is passed about and all pray on it.

3) The liquid is poured from the cup, through a rhyton and onto the altar.

FIRE OFFERING "Pyrheirea"

1) Lamps and candles are placed at the base of the statue.

2) Incence is offered in special holders that are found about the temple or circle.
