Fallen

There's a compulsion, a burning desire that -
I'm sinking into, this feeling wont subside.
I need to reach out and grab the shining blade,
Although i promised i wouldn't do it again.
(I lied)

In this isolation the outside world's a dream
And the inevitable consequences hold no threat -
Against the seductive cries of premature death.
I'm playing with the rush.
(It hasn't killed me - yet.)

I feel myself falling into a deep numbness,
The pain is nothing on the painted canvas of dispair
It's all a dream in a black and white, senseless world
What do they know, these people?
(What do they care?)

You'll look at the scars and, with bright eyes, ask me why
Don't ask, (why ask?) I'm just feeling low.
You talk in whispers, grouped out on the streets -
Speculations of insanity?
(You'd be the ones to know.)

You cry out for me to stop hurting myself
(hurting you)
As if my pain would drown in the sorrow of your tear-stained face
My selfish streak pierces my heart like a bade -
And the knife?

(The knife just don't cut to the chase)

There's a compulsion, a burning desire that -
I'm sinking into, this feeling wont subside.
I need to reach out and grab the shining blade,
Although i promised i wouldn't do it again.

I tried.
