NUTRIENTS

Nutrients are the parts of food that your body uses to do its work. Every food contains at least one nutrient, but healthy foods have lots of them. There are 3 main nutrients in food: Protein, Fat, and Carbohydrates. Your body uses different nutrients in different ways.

Answer the following:

1. Why is it important to eat foods with protein, carbohydrates, and fats? What does each nutrient do for the body?

2. Give at least 10 examples of foods in each nutrient group.

3. How much of each nutrient do you need daily?
