And, behold, the angel that talked with me (see 1:9) went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
And said to him, "Run, speak to this young man (i.e. the man of v.1), saying [Stop!] (for the reason given implies that measuring will be useless, owing to the overflow of inhabitants), 'Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls (cp. Isa. 33:20; 54:2. Ezek. 38:11) for the multitude of men and cattle therein:

For I, saith the LORD, will be to her a wall of fire round about (like the watch-fires seen round Bedouin camps, which have no walls. Cp. Isa. 26:1; 33:21; 60:18), and will be the glory (Shekinah glory) in the midst of her. (The Lord is returning. Cp. Ezek. 38:11)

Ho, ho, escape, and flee from the land of the north (get up and get out. The nort side is where Satan is going to sit [2 Thess. 2. Isa. 14]. It's going to be smashed [Mark 13:2]), saith the LORD: for I have scattered you abroad (ref. Deut. 4:27; 28:64) as the four winds of the heaven (Rev. 7. Dan. 7), saith the LORD.
Deliver yourself (not your preacher), O Zion, that dwell with the daughter of Babylon (confusion).

For thus says the LORD of hosts; For His own glory has He sent me to the nations which spoiled you: for he that touches you touches the apple of His eye. (Have you ever had anyone stick their finger in your eye?!)
For, behold, I will shake My hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their own slaves: and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me. (He won't put up with it.)

Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion:

for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you (ref. Ex. 29:45,46. Lev. 26:11,12), saith the LORD. (What a time this will be!)
And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day (ref. Ex. 12:49. Num. 9:14), and shall be My people: and I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
And the LORD shall inherit Judah His portion (ref. Deut. 32:9) in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem yet. (Not make a new choice, but demonstrate again His old choice in actual experience.)

Be silent, O all flesh (of the ways of the world), before the LORD: (Cp. Hab. 2:20. Zeph. 1:7.)

for He has roused Himself up (cp. Ps. 78:65) out of His holy habitation. (Ref. Deut. 26:15.)
