Psalm 135)

1 Praise you the LORD. (Hellelu=yah)

Praise you the name of the LORD (Yahaveh);
Praise Him, O you servants of the LORD. (note the 3 Yehovah's between Yah in v.1 and Elohim in v.2. Corresponding with the threefold blessing in Num. 6:22-27.)
2 You that stand in the house of the LORD,
In the courts (this includes the People as well as the priests and Levites) of the house of our God (Elohim).
3 Praise the LORD; for the LORD is good:
Sing praises to His name; for it (i.e. His name) is pleasant.

4 For the LORD has chosen Jacob (cp. Mal. 1:2. Rom. 9:13. Put for his posterity) to Himself,
And Israel (see Gen. 32:28; 43:6; 45:26,28) for His own possession. (See Ex. 19:5.)

5 For I know that the LORD is great,
And that our Lord (Adonim) is above all gods. (Used here of earthly, rulers as representing God. See Ex. 22:9, and Cp. Rom. 13:1-7.)
6 Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did He
In heaven, and in earth (Hezekiah's expression), in the seas, and all deep places.
7 He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth;
He makes lightnings for the rain;
He brings the wind (cp with Jer. 10:13; 51:16) out of His treasure (put for treasuries).
8 Who smote the firstborn of Egypt,
Both of man and beast. (Cp. Ex. 12:29.)
9 Who sent tokens and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt,
Upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants. (Cp. Ex. 7-14, and Ps. 136:15.)
10 Who smote great nations,
And slew mighty kings; (Cp. Num. 21-26,34 and 35.)
11 Sihon king of the Amorites, (Cp. Num. 21:21-34. Deut. 1:4)
And Og king of Bashan, (Cp. Deut. 31:4. Josh. 13:31.)
And all the kingdoms of Canaan: (Cp. Josh. 12:7.)
12 And gave their land for an heritage, (Cp. Josh 12:7)
An heritage to Israel His People.

13 Your name, O LORD, endures for ever;

And Your memorial, O LORD, throughout all generations.

14 For the LORD will vindicate His People,
And He will compassion concerning His servants.

15-18. SUPERIORITY OVER IDOLS.
W  o  15-. The idols.
    p  -15. Their fabrication.
     q  16-. Mouth without speech.
      r  -16. Eyes without sight.
      r  17-. Ears without hearing.
     q  -17. Mouth without breath.
    p  18-. Their fabricators.
   o  -18. The idolaters.

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold,

The work of men's hands.
16 They have mouths, but they speak not;

Eyes have they, but they see not;

17 They have ears, but they hear not;

Neither is there any breath in their mouths.

18 They that make them will become like unto them:

So is every one that confides in them.

19 Bless the LORD, O house of Israel:
Bless the LORD, O house of Aaron:
20 Bless the LORD, O house of Levi: (Note included in 115.)
You that revere the LORD, bless the LORD.
21 Blessed be the LORD out of Zion, (Shows that this Psalm is an expansion of Ps. 134.)
Which dwells at Jerusalem.

Praise you the LORD. (Halleluyah)
