| What is a Dolphin? |
|
The dolphin is a small toothed whale found in seas world wide.
They are found in deep waters and near to coasts. There are one
of the smallest marine animals. Dolphins use sonar or echo-location to navigate through the waters and find thier prey. A series of 'clicks' are make with their blowhole and emmited through their foreheads. The echos are heard through the dolphins jaw which enables dolphins to form 'sound images' of their surroundings. |
Dolphins are a challenging marine mammal to photograph both above and below water. They dart about in their underwater world like torpedos, or jump high into the air without any warning. Despite their frantic activity and because of it, they are among my favorite sea creatures to photograph in the wild.
