HISTORY OF BETA CHAPTER
In 1921:
a group of pioneering Morris Brown College women saw for themselves the light of Zeta. That light led them to found a chapter representative of the first sorority established at Morris Brown. That legacy is still celebrated today, as the Zeta plot at Morris Brown is the closest in proximity to the college's historic Fountain Hall. Beta chapter can count among its sorors such historical Morris Brown women as Alice Dugged Carey, the second principal of Morris Brown, and Mayme and Julia Fountain, the daughters of past Morris Brown President William Fountain, Sr. (after whom Fountain Hall is named). Since its establishment, Beta Chapter has sorors who have graduated with Baccalaureate degrees in medicine, law, engineering, education, business, psychology, communications, and many others. Many furthered their education in obtaining master and doctoral degrees. Situated in the Southeastern Region, Beta Chapter's graduate chapter is Epsilon Zeta. As she cherishes and adheres to the principles of our sorority--Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood--Beta continues to give to the community, as well as touch the lives of all women who seek the light of Zeta.
