When Leon Tolchinsky lands a terrific teaching job in an idyllic Russian hamlet, he's thrilled! But when he arrives, he finds people sweeping dust into their houses, farmhands milking sheep upside down to get more cream, and sheep herding the shepherd. The town has been cursed with chronic stupidity for 200 years, and it's Leon's job to break the curse. No one tells him, though, that if he doesn't succeed within 24 hours, he'll also become stupid.
