First, the setting: Amherst College, in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts. I'd never been so excited by Autumn before I came to Amherst. The photo below was taken from one of the trails in the bird sanctuary.
Next, the view from the War Memorial, on the South end of the main quad:
Fun fact: Amherst has more tennis courts per capita than any other school in the nation. (the joys of being a tour guide). you can see a few in the photo below of the athletic fields, though i took the photo mainly for the clouds. The stone church shown below is about a block away from campus, on the way into town.
A highlight of my first semester at college was, of course, a visit from my bestest friend in the whole wide world :)
fine, fine, you want to see my college friends and me: here's a collage I put together a couple weeks ago, when i was awake early one morning. Clockwise from top left: Rachel and Alex; John meditating with Raskol in my room; John, Alex, and Lindsay in Lindsay's room in Pratt; Tom, Lindsay, and Alex in Seligman 306 (Alex's room last year, Lindsay's current room, and my room next year...not that you can see much of it from the photo other than the slanted ceiling...on the other hand, that's most of what there is to the room); Isaiah, Rachel, Kevin, various stuffed animals and refreshments for the upcoming debate tournament; Alex being a Linux cowboy; Kevin and Rachel teaming up on the quad on a pretty day - We Southerners have to stick together :)
Aren't John and I cute? :) He's responsible for introducing me to Sacred Harp music.
Speaking of Sacred Harp, here's a photo from the convention in Northampton in early March. If I haven't rambled to you about it yet, and if you're confused as to why i've been putting up away messages saying things like "oh, when will i see jesus and reign with him above?" when you were pretty sure you remembered that i'm not too religious, see the Special Feature on this site's main page
Back to pictures of people, it's our favorite Sri Lankan, Isuru, webpage designer extraordinaire, who's working on a little project with me for the Sci Fi/Fantasy Club.
and for some current events, here's a poster that has been placed around campus and has topped the list of stolen items on campus lately:
Isaiah ("SATURDAY") and Solomon ("JCHAP") are my favorite Jews :)
More photos coming...including one of my pretty, new bike.
