Research and Developement Section

Firstly about the sensibility of a R&D section, let me quote the webmaster of Aquatica:

"The following post is a formal request for all Aquatica Webring sites to discontinue posting modification of SuperSoakers on their sites. Also, this request goes to Aquatica Club members and the topics of their posts. This is currently made as a request and not a demand. However, the reasons for this request are as follows:
i) SuperSoaker.com does not support modifications of their product and appear that they will not acknowledge any website that does
ii) Aquatica is attempting to form closer ties with SuperSoaker.com making the posting of modifications a hinderance to this goal
iii) Though many individuals believe that their modifications can improve their particular blaster, Aquatica is here to discuss which blasters are good as is...
iv) Types and variety of modifications may make a blaster unsafe (which is probably why SuperSoaker.com will not agree to listing sites with modifications) Since posting of the type of modifications cannot be controlled on foreign websites, it is best to not have them at all
v) If one really has an idea for how to improve a water blaster, perhaps one should apply to work for them! *heh*
Non-blaster technology developments can still be posted and discussed (i.e. water mines, alarms, etc.) There is, of course, war stories, tips and tactics which should definitely be discussed.
We, at Aquatica, understand that there are those who are really into modifying their weapons, but we cannot condone those actions. I hope that this does not offend or upset too many members.
As stated above, this post is a request. However, depending on how things continue to develop with our ties to SuperSoaker.com, this request may eventually be turned into a demand in hopes to gain greater information access, etc.
As for the record, though Aquatechnology currently lists a few modifications, these will be gone as of June 1, 2000."

There is no gurantee at all that any ideas on this page work or are a good idea, we decline all resposibility for any results.
Some ideas have been described on other pages and some are more or less new.
  1. It is normally quite a good idea to paint your gun, especially the bright neon bits so that it is more difficult to spot it.
Make sure to cover all those parts that won't like paint and be careful not to make it too much like a real gun.
  2. Several sites advise you to attach a flashlight to your gun for night fights. Make sure you can switch it off when necessary.
You should also make sure the water won't get to vital parts of it (i.e. get a waterproof one or otherwise ensure suitable protection).
  3. One of the most famous modification is probably the so-called "riot-blast": Open up the nozzle of e.g. a XP-70 in order to achieve a short blast that will drain the whole pressure tank in a quick burst.
With some older guns you just took off the nozzle, but with the XP-70, you will have to drill a bigger hole into it.
I've seen this modification once and I wasn't too impressed: Some sites claim in would match a CPS, but it doesn't, neither in drenching power nor in range.
  4. Now another modification some sites promote: For some older soakers, you can do a similar thing to what the storms offer with their unlimitor: You need to take off the tank and then you attach a hose to where the bottle would normally go to.
If you now turn on the hose, pump and pull the trigger it will fire with a quite good range and power.
But why don't you just use the hose in the first place?
  5. You can also make smaller nozzles on big guns, especially if they have several nozzles.
Pick a nozzle that you don't like (e.g. the typhoon of the 3000) and fill it with epoxy. Then you drill a much smaller hole through it. This will conserve water.
