Buying Scrip is TMAC’s most painless method of fund raising. You simply buy Scrip certificates from TMAC and use them to pay for groceries, shop at department stores or eat out at restaurants.
Scrip is issued in the form of gift certificates or gift cards. You, the buyer, receive 100% of the face value of the gift card, and you also receive a percentage of the gift card credited to your student’s account.
For example, if you buy $25 in Starbucks scrip, you will receive a gift card good for $25 in purchases at Starbucks. Starbucks pays 7 percent, so your student will receive a $1.75 credit to his or her student account. How many times have you bought drinks from Starbucks, but received nothing toward your student’s account? You can see how quickly the credits will add up if you use Scrip to buy groceries at Ralph’s (5%) and pay for your next restaurant meal with Scrip, at El Torito (13%), Marie Callender’s (10%) or Coco’s (13%). There is a 2-page list of vendors who participate in the Scrip program.
You can obtain a Scrip order form from the SCHS music room. The order form lists the vendors who participate, and also specifies what percentage the company donates back to the school.
