
Eric Reginald Dennis
He was born on July 19, 1896 in Halifax, N. S. and died on April 5, 1917 in Vimy Ridge, France. He was a Lieutenant in the 63rd Rifles at outbreak of World War I. He volunteered for overseas duty. He was promoted to Captain, 2nd Battalion Canadian Infantry. He was awarded the Military Cross for War services. He died in action. There are testimonials to his memory found at various universities. There is a sketch of his life with tributes from fellow officers published. He attended Acadia University. He was a member of the staff of his father's newspaper before he enlisted.
