Jesus Christ the Messiah, the King


30 "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. 31 You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."

... the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings ...


7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death— even death on a cross!

During this season one can't help but be in awe of this child, Mary's child, Jesus Christ the Messiah, the King. He is Lord of lords and King of kings. Yet He humbled himself, made himself nothing, He was obedient to death - death on a cross!

Hebrews 1 really shows the supremacy and Diety of Christ. It really points to alot of other scriptural references showing Jesus as the Messiah, the King.

Mary's Song and the Song of Hannah

Mary's song of praise, The Magnificat or "The Glorification of What God Has Done"(Luke 1:46-55) is so similar to the Song of Hannah (1 Samuel 2:1-10) both in imagery and length that it is simply impossible for these to be merely coincidental. The table below gives the two passages side by side with some additional Old Testament passages.

Some neat things to notice about this song:

All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Lord keep each heart humble, clothe us in humility. Thank You for Your grace and care. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Consuming Fire

Fire --

Passion thru worship,

worshipping in Spirit & Truth is our strength, our refuge, our protection!

Neh 8:10

... the joy of the Lord is your strength.

1 Chron 16:27

Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy in his dwelling place.

John 4:23-24

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.

 

Consuming fire is tied to worship and transformation! Fan the Flame! to shine brighter & brighter. : )

A flaming fire is bright - the radiance of God's glory shines forth.

A flaming fire cleanses, refines, purifies, removes sin.

A flaming fire burns - more zeal to do God's will/work.

A flaming fire consumes, devours - can the ungodly stand before the Lord and not be consumed?

A flaming fire is a good defense - it contains more power, it provides protection.

Wall of Fire

Zech 2:5
And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,' declares the LORD, 'and I will be its glory within.'

His kingdom has no walls -- for His fire and glory are its protection ...

No flesh or anything built by man can enter thru the fire -- all chaff is burnt away ...

There will be no darkness ...

Revelation 21:27   Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

So to the Lord's people the wall of fire is protection, safety -- purifying --

But to enemies, it is death.

Look at these 'walls' and 'gates' around this city of the Lord.

The wall of salvation (Isa 26:1, 60:18)

The gate of praise (Isa 60:18; Ps 100:2-4)

And Jesus as a gate for the sheep to enter safe pasture (Jn 10:7).

So how do we enter this city?

Thru Jesus -- salvation

step thru the fire -- let Jesus purify your heart

go thru the gate of praise into the fire & glory of His presence!

No Eye - Every Eye

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.

I was thinking about God's love for each of us recently. He really touched my heart with how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. It's so big - that we as humans can not comprehend it right now - no eye - no ear - no mind...

But - just wait...

John 14 holds a wonderful promise! Jesus has gone on ahead of us to prepare a place for each of us. Look at these verses from ():.

2 In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
4 You know the way to the place where I am going.

6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life."...

Jesus is coming back for us -- He is the way to this wonderful place in His Father's house. Right now we can't comprehend what the Lord is preparing for those who love Him. This will change when Christ returns for His bride.
Then every eye shall see...


5 To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood, 6 and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to Him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.
7 Look, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of Him. So shall it be! Amen.

8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega," says the Lord God, "who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

Then the bride will experience all that is being prepared, all love, honor, joy and gladness with the King forever. ()

Lord, let each heart get a glimpse of what is being prepared for those who love You. Prepare each heart to be ready for the time when the one "who loves us and freed us from our sins by His blood", is coming for his bride. For then
"Every eye shall see" and we shall shout
"To him be glory, and power for ever and ever! Amen."

For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Bull? Or fruit of your lips?

Hosea 14:2
Take words with you and return to the LORD. Say to him:
"Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips.

Hebrews 13: 15
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.


* Literally, Hosea 14:2 says for we will offer the calves of our lips. Since bull calves were often brought for sacrifice, the translators felt justified in putting it for we will offer the sacrifices of our lips. However, the more literal rendering shows just how plainly our words of praise, worship, confession, petition, or intercession can be a sacrifice before God.


* Your fruit is found in Me can have two ideas, equally true.
1. We find the fruit to nourish our soul in God, and God alone.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

2. We find the fruit that we are to bear unto the world in God, and God alone.

John 15:4
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Help us each to offer the fruits of our lips to You, O Lord.

Experiencing True Peace

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You.

How wonderful to know the name of Jesus, and to know the One to whom the name belongs. That name is like music to us when we’re troubled, for we know that if we call on Jesus’ name, He is there to whisper His peace. When we’re “lowly” and “meek,” willing to put our trust in Jesus rather than in ourselves, His peace surrounds us. He doesn’t try to get our attention by shouting at us. No, He gets our attention by waiting quietly and patiently for us to focus our thoughts on Him. As we read the Scriptures and talk to God in the solitude, as we seek Him, Jesus is there. We come away refreshed, ready to face anything that may come our way, because Jesus has whispered His peace.....

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for Your peace. Help us to put our trust in You alone. Help each of us find time to seek You. Teach us to be humble before You and keep our minds steadfast. Thank You that as we do this, we'll each be kept in Your perfect peace.

There is a name to me most dear,
Like sweetest music to my ear,
For when my heart is troubled, filled with fear,
Jesus whispers peace.

When grief seems more than I can bear,
My soul weighed down with heavy care,
And I am sorely tempted to despair,
Jesus whispers peace.

O that the world might hear Him speak,
The word of comfort that men seek,
To all the lowly and unto the meek,
Jesus whispers peace.

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

May we each hear this sweet whisper of peace from our Lord Jesus -- the Prince of Peace.
