This webquest was developed for a high school Marketing class at Nerinx Hall. Nerinx is a private, Catholic, all-girls, college prep school in Webster Groves, Missouri. This class is offered as a one-semester elective for Juniors and Seniors. It is planned as an introductory Marketing course touching on a wide range of Marketing topics.To involve the students personally with the topic of personal selling, I would ask them to verbally share with the class about sales experiences they have been involved with or observed. Students always love telling their stories.
Then prior to doing this webquest, we would have discussed/taken notes on the topic of personal selling and all the steps in the selling process. As an assignment, the girls would have interviewed a sales person and written a report about their interview. Time permitting I might also have a salesperson speak to the class and/or show a sales video. Sometimes I also assign a sales observation - the girls go to a store where "selling" rather than "clerking" is done and observe a sales person in action, and then write an observation essay.
This webquest will meet a variety of objectives - Students will gather, analyze, and apply information and ideas; Students will use technology to gather the information and present it to others; Students will prepare (and then apply) a tool to evaluate the sales presentations of classmates; Students will exhibit teamwork, responsibility, punctuality, and creativity; Students will deliver oral presentations.
