Facts about Girl Scouts of Green Hills Council, Inc

Green Hills Council was established in 1963, and currently serves girls in Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside, Lee, part of Ogle in Illinois, and Grant and Lafayette in Wisconsin.

 MEMBERSHIP: Open to all girls 5-17 and to adults, both men and women, who subscribe to the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

GIRL SCOUT PROGRAM: Girl Scouting offers girls a continuing program of activites. The program is based on the needs and interests of girls at each of the five age levels.

Daisy Girl Scouts: 5-6 years old and in Kindergarten or 1st grade.

Brownie Girl Scouts: 6-8 years old and in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade.

Junior Girl Scouts: 8-11 years old and in 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th grade.

Cadette Girl Scouts: 11-14 years old in 6th, 7th, 8th or 9th grade.

Senior Girl Scouts: 14-17 years old in 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.
 
 

FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Green Hills Council is a member of the following: Dixon Area United Way, Fulton Community Fund, Lena Combined Fund, Morrison United Way, United Way of Northwest Illinois, United Way of Platteville, United Way of Sterling/Rock Falls, and the United Way of Thomson.

 The annual cookie sale, program service fees, contributions, and Annual Giving significantly contribute to the support of Girl Scouting in Green Hills Council.

 AFFILIATION: Green Hills Council is chartered by Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. Chartered by Congress, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. was founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Low was inspired by Lord Robert-Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts in England. The National President is Connie L. Matsui . The National Executive Director is Marsha Johnson Evans.

 INTERNATIONAL AFFILIATION: Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in over 129 counties of the free world. It is the largest organization for women and girls in the world.
