MUSIC

My main interest is music. For thirteen years I directed the music for the Beeston Lads Club (Boys Brigade) annual pantomime, working with young people on stage, playing the keyboards, leading a small orchestra, writing music, and doing arrangements.
For the last ten years I have mainly been playing in wind bands and orchestras, including The Beeston Town Band, The Wakefield Wind Orchestra, The New Yorkshire Orchestra, the Henley-Farrell Big Band ,and The  Salvation Army.
I play clarinet and saxophones (alto, tenor and baritone).
I am a member of the Sheffield and Rotherham Branch of the Musicians Union (pwp3@tutor.open.ac.uk).

Update (October 2002)

Since September 2000 I have been studying part-time at the Sheffield University Institute for Life-Long Learning.  I have just completed the Certificate in Music Studies.  This term I have enrolled for further modules in Web Design and Vocal Studies.

I have also, in association with the students  Music Players Society , started a new ensemble-cum-jazz-workshop-  The FriNJE (The Friday Night Jazz Ensemble)  . We meet on a Friday between 5pm and 7pm  in the Raynor Lounge; (off “Bar One” in the Students Union Building).
