If only we had words enough and rhyme
To teach the world to sing and swing in time,
We’d know the tunes and note them on the page;
Now pray that love can bloom in ev’ry age.

This verse was written in 2004 as part of a creative writing course at The Instutute for Lifelong Learning. It was originally entitled "Busking In Hull" because it was adapted from the inscription on the statue of Andrew Marvell in Hull.
