I Love You Too

Chemical warfare
Behind a plastic smile
And they never can seem
To pin point
Just one problem

Swallowed pills
And hidden tears
Scars to show
What they’ll never understand

But neglected medication
Creates more confusion
Than this chocolate bar can cure
And Serotonin
Is just another word
For unnatural tranquility

He declares his love
And while my heart leaps,
My mind fears
The unknown
And undiscovered
So, I smile and kiss the source
Of beautifully sincere words,
Avoiding stuttered replies

And still, I wonder
Why I can’t let my heart commit
To taking chances
And just say…

I love you too.
