Dennis started playing the piano at age 9. He was classically trained, but in later years he studied other music styles with an emphasis on Jazz. Dennis is the founder/director of DenRush Productions which consists of a music school & a recording studio. He is the Executive Producer for the concert series "Creative Praise". He has two albums to his credit; 1. Sail On (released Aug 2002) 2. The Star (Christmas special released December 2002). He leads his own group "Dennis Rushton & Friends" and is the Music Director for Glacia Robinson who was the 1998 JCDC Gospel Festival winner. Dennis produced the song "The Extra-Ordinary God" which was sung by Nichole Robinson who won the JCDC Gospel Song Competition 2001. He did the soundtracks for Karl Hart's play "Ban yu Belly and Laugh" which was performed between December 2001 and April 2002 both in Jamaica and Florida (USA). He produced the Theme Music for the Jamaica Football Federation Premier League Competition in 2002. Dennis has opened for Kirk Franklin and CeCe Winans in Jamaica. In July 1999 Dennis was voted "Best Instrumentalist" at the annual Tri-State Music Awards held in Long Island, New York. He was honoured by the Word Time Ministries of Jamaica in recognition of Distinguished Service to the Gospel Music Industry in Jamaica. (May 2003). His third project "Quiet Time" is expected to be released September 2003. With reference to 'Creative Praise' The Gleaner dated Nov 1, 1999 says "Dennis' fingers dance over the keyboard". "The Observer" dated Oct 31, 1999 states "His performance is outstanding" referring to the same concert. He has been featured on many occasions by different media houses in Jamaica and the Caribbean. He along with his friends (Dale Brown - bass, Bobby Stewart - drums) made history as they are the first Jamaican Gospel Group to be featured on B.E.T jazz channel. They have been featured on B.E.T Jazz on numerous occasions starting from November 2000 on a program called "Jazz in the Sun".(This broadcast has been shown to a viewing audience of 135 million people in places as far as Europe, United Kingdom, West Africa & the U.S.A.) His arrangement of "Have a little talk with Jesus" was #1 on the mp3 Jazz Jamaica charts for 5 weeks and was featured in a commercial for Love FM eight anniversary celebrations. Dennis has performed for Jamaica's government officials many times. He played for the cocktail hour at the Prime Minister Independence Gala celebrating 40 years of Jamaica's independence. Dennis has shown immense talent in gospel music, he also performs Jazz and semi-classical music, many of which are his own compositions, for countless weddings and formal occasions.
