One of Amanda’s former teachers at WDSS (Wallaceburg District Secondary School)presented us with the following poem he had written following her death. Thanks Dave!

In Memory of A.P.H.

[1981-2001]

Thoughts On A Cold, Windy, Rainy September Night.....

“That’s the way I’ll remember her best,
In the darkness of my night,
in the brightness of my day.”
-Robert Zimmerman

I remember her beautiful eyes,
        they were always warm and so carefree
		that you could easily tell
			she was at peace with herself
			and the world;
	I remember her eyes,
		and I will not forget.

I remember her friendly smile,
	it was always there for you to see
		that you could easily feel
			at ease with the cruel world
			and yourself;
	I remember her smile,
		and I will not forget.

I remember her exuberant enthusiasm for words,
	it was always so true and natural
		that you could easily appreciate
			the personal thoughts of one
			so young;
	I remember her enthusiasm for words,
		and I will not forget.

I remember her intense passion for music,
	it was so warm and inviting
		that you could easily cherish
			each note that echoed through
			the room;
	I remember her passion for music,
		and I will not forget.

I remember her friendly conversation,
	it was so honest and friendly
		that you could easily be swept
			into her recollections of life on
			the ‘Rock’,
	I remember her friendly conversation,
		and I will not forget.

I remember her unique joy for life,
	it was so open and optimistic
		that you could easily overlook
			your own trials and
			tribulations;
	I remember her joy for life,
		and I will not forget.

I remember her personal love for God,
	it was so strong for a youth in our times
		that you could easily be led to believe
			in a better life
			hereafter;
	I remember her love for God,
		and I will never forget.

I’ll fondly remember her in future times,
	it will be so easy to reflect upon those
	cherished days during my daily travels
		from here to there and back when I
		encounter a friendly smile or a kind word;
	I’ll fondly remember her,
		and I will never be able to forget.
