Galway

Galway is the largest city on Ireland's West coast. It is located in the Province of Connaught.

There is the picturesque Galway Bay, as well as the villages of Claddagh where the famous ring originates. This ring is given across the world by lovers and friends. How the ring is worn is an indication of the status of the person. If the sharp end of the ring is facing down as in the picture, then the person's heart is spoken for. But if the heart's point faces away from the body than the person is not involved and is available. It is an invitation to the world that the heart is there to be won.

Galway is a university city and the nightlife is great. The most popular region - Quay Street can get a little crowded, but it's worth it if you want the best of live music. Every type of music can be heard from the latest chart records, to Traditional Irish music and Cover Acts depending on the night.

Most pubs have chalk boards or fliers advertising up coming events. Some of the best locations include. The Quay's Pub on Quay street. Regular live acts in their upstairs lounge as well as Trad music in the downstairs area. The Skeffington Arms is a hotel as well as a pub / niteclub. The food here is excellent

There are lots of festivals to attentd. Every summer in August is the Galway Races, a week long event at Ballybrit racecourse. There are regular oyster festivals and cultural shows and any of the links below will help you plan a trip.
