Message from Assistant Coach Tim Collins: Dear Track & Field/Cross Country Alumni, Greetings from your old stomping grounds. As we start what we hope to be yet another successful fall, winter and spring campaign, we are also looking back to celebrate the accomplishments of the recent past. Last year was no exception to the steady stream of successful cross country and track & field seasons which have been led so well by Head Coach Steve Dolan. In the 11 years that Steve has been with the college, he has won the mens and womens NJAC Conference meets in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track every year for the past 6 years, he has been named NCAA Regional Coach of the year 7 times and he has coached over 40 All-Americans including 3 individual National Champions. Last year the mens cross country team finished 9th in the nation and were led by All-American Nick Ricco. The womens cross country team finished 11th at the National meet and was led by All-American Sarah Spilman. During the Indoor season, six men and women achieved All-American status and at the outdoor meet, 11 men and women achieved All-American status highlighted by senior Nick Riccos National Championship in the 5,000 meters and freshman Tiffany Clarks runner up in both the 400 and 4x400. In recognition of his outstanding efforts in leading both the mens and womens cross country and track & field teams, The College of New Jersey has named Steve their Coach of the year. Coach Dolan will be honored at half-time of the TCNJ vs LaSalle football game on Friday, September 19th. His wife and kids as well as members of the current track and cross country team will be there to celebrate this achievement. I would like to extend an invitation for you to join us that night to celebrate both Steve and the programs success. The next day we travel to Van Cortland Park in New York City for our second cross country meet of the season. We hope to see you either that night or some other time during the season (especially the Homecoming Weekend NJAC XC Conference meet hosted at Washington Crossing Park on November 1st). Once again, best wishes for you and your family this fall season. Sincerely, Tim Collins Assistant Coach Cross Country/Track & Field |
