Happy New Year!!!! Message from Metzie: Happy New Year Everyone! I had a really good blood test and check up on Monday. My white count is down to 25,000 from 29,000 four months ago. It is the lowest it has been since my Lyme blood test in May 1999 was 24,000. Normal is 3,300-10,500. Out of the 25,000 my lymphocyte count is down to 20,300. Normal is 1,200 -3,200. So basically I have about 17,000 cancerous cells in my body. Even better news is that my hematologist found no swollen lymph nodes for the first time in about two years. The whole checkup was basically pretty good news. I did have to go to the hospital for X-rays on my sinusis because I told her I was having very bad sinus headaches. So once we get the results we will see if I just need some antibiotics or if I need to go see a Ear, Nose and throat person. My one concern is my platelets are going down. This test it was 148 and the normal range is 144-400. The lowest it has been before Mondays test was 179. So I have to ask her about that. Thank you everyone for your continued support and my next blood test will be in April. After the indoor track season and just before the softball season starts. Happy New Year! Tom |

Men's and Women's Cross Country National Championship Photos: A new gallery has been added to highlight our men's and women's teams from the National Championship Meet this past November 2002. Click here to view all photos, which also appear on the TCNJ website. Alumnus Checks in: We received these emails from Jason Faris over the last week. Hi Fuchsie, I hope you've been having a great holiday! What are you up to these days? Have you taken some time off over the holidays? Dan Magee just wrote to me and suggested e-mailing some news for the website - he thought I was in a PhD program, so I thought I would clear that up too! So here it is: I am still dating Katie Bates, a woman I met during Veterinary school. She and I are living together in Baltimore, where she is working as a Veterinarian at a small animal practice. She is extremely devoted to running as well as her work, as she recently qualified for the Boston Marathon. I, meanwhile, am slacking heavily running 3-4 miles here and there. Hopefully I can get my act together and start training for some races. I am midway through my 2nd year of medical school at Johns Hopkins. This year has been very clinically-oriented, as we learn about "bugs and drugs" and also learn important clinical skills such as taking good histories, assessing organ function, drawing blood, etc. Just in time, I say, as we start our clinical rotations at the end of March. Katie and I just returned today from a trip to England to visit with her family for Christmas. Although the time went by too fast, we had a great time. We'll celebrate Christmas belatedly this coming weekend with my family. Hope everyone has had a great holiday! Jason Glenn responded to Jason's first email and here was his answer I'm in my 2nd year of Medical school, not a PhD program (I can see how it could get confused, as I have been in other degree programs since college). I start my clinical rotations this March. So far, I would say I'm leaning towards Internal medicine, but I have some time to figure that part out. I just returned this afternoon from England, where I was spending Christmas with Katie and her family, who still live over there. It was a great trip, but I'm exhausted - first thing we did when we got back was to run 3 miles, which didn't help! Katie is very into running - at the Baltimore marathon this past October, she qualified for the Boston marathon - I need to get my act together and start training as well.. . Since the Jets took care of the Packers about an hour ago, our Eagles now have home-field throughout. Hopefully the return of McNabb will reinvigorate the offense - 2 wins and we're in the Super Bowl. Hope you're having a great holiday, Jason MIA List: Dan Avondoglio Susan Baka Lorelei Boggs Tim Brennan Linda Burriesci Carrington Colleen Casey Jim Casey Mike Cavallo Maura Coleman (found) Stormin' Norman Coyle Frank Dariano Joe DeLuise Chris Fagan Brian Falkowski Ed Febinger Frank Ferrara Coach Fitz Pat Gallagher Joe Geismar (found) Michelle Gindreaux Mary "Huey" Gould Kim Hageman Sylvester Harriet Dave Hoch Tracey Hosler Sandy Humphrey Judy Hunt Willie Jackson Chris Kalwinsky Trisha Kenney Jim Kingsley Gail Kupcha Herb Lorenz Kyle Lynott Mark Macauley Jennifer Maczka Mike Maney Patsy Marino Marlon Matthews Don Matoush Jim McElhaton Mike McGourty Brendan McKeon Dave Motovidlak (found) Michelle Nichol Bob "Kemo" Nielson (found) Steve Ondrejack Sue (Piekarz) Rodrigez John Richardson Janice Reilly Marc Rossi Alan Skilowitz Coach Smitty (in progress of being contacted, he currently lives in Brazil, South America) Steve Strange Christian Talag Karen Tangora Ken Topolewski (in progress of being contacted) Steve Urban Karen Vance Eddie Vizzola Melissa Wenczel Greg "Groundhog" Weinert Dave Ytreboe Virginia Zaleski (in progress of being contacted) Pete Zippel (in progress of being contacted) Tall, Slow Andy from '86 XC |
