Jim McElhatton
Staff news reporter for Atlantic City Press, Ocean County Office. Living in Brigantine, NJ

Hi guys.
Thanks for thinking to look me up. I wasn’t with the team as long as I would’ve liked. But I have a lot of great memories, like when, in an effort to help his form, Frank Ferrarra’s arms were duct-taped at 90-degree angles. I laugh every time I see the stuff. At the end of sophomore year, I dropped out of school and moved to Oregon, came back a year later, then worked at Halo Farm until I was fired for drinking eggnog in front of customers (third warning), graduated TSC just before it became something else, moved to Texas and came back to New Jersey two years ago. I’m a reporter with the Atlantic City Press. Not married, have a great girlfriend. I live in Brigantine, for now, so let me know if you ever need a place to crash at the shore or if you’re ever stuck in AC. I haven’t gone more than six miles in a single run in ten years, which is why my form is a lot like Frank’s these days (no offense Frank).

Alumnus Checks in with Some News:

I hope all is well with you. I was looking over the MIA list the other day, and have some current and not so current info on 2 people on the list and 1 person not on the list. First name off the list, AnnMarie McLaughlin. I have stayed in touch with her over the past 8 or 9 years and she is doing well, and is working with a publishing company in Neew York or Connecticut. She recently got engaged Now for the 2 names on the list, Kyle Lynott works at Hunterdon Central High School as a math teacher and track coach, I see him often during the winter season. He is married with 2 kids and seems to be doing well. I used to run into Dan Avondoglio at the same meets I saw Kyle at and he was doing some coaching here and there and then about 2 years ago he told me he was going to try to become a US Navy SEAL. After leaving TSC, he enrolled in the US Navy Officer Candidate School and his choice of duty was going through all the steps to become a SEAL. I have not seen or heard from him in the past 2 years, I hope he made it. I hope this helped.

It's a Boy!

Suzanne Meyer-Morris had her first baby on
January 3, 2003.

Benjamin Todd Morris was
8 lbs. 15 oz. and 21.5 inches.

Both are doing really well. Suzanne says,
"As an interesting side note, I was running up
until the week before he was born. I believe it
made labor, delivery and recovery much easier".

Mike has run two marathons, Chicago in 3:53 and NYC in 4:59:48 (ran with a friend on two days of training).

It has indeed been several years since we have corresponded. It was nice to hear from you. I imagine you got my number from McStravick. I spoke to him a few months ago.

Congratulations on getting engaged. I actually checked out the website & saw that you and Pat were getting married. That's great.

So anyway after college I lived out west for about a year then came back and went to Culinary School. I have pretty much been busy being a chef up until last summer when I decided to go back to school. It's beginning to seem that most of my adult years are being spent going to school. But being a chef wasn't something I wanted to spend my whole life doing so I'm back in school for information technology. I don't really see anybody from college, but strangely enough I saw Alden Thorndike this past summer in a corner bar by a place I was working at in Philly. Imagine my surprise. I don't think he would have recognized me if I didn't say anything. Then sometime in the fall I saw Pat Gallagher at a Festival in Haddonfield.

I was going to go to the Trenton State homecoming this year but never made it. I know coach got into the Hall of Fame and everything. I thought I might run into some of the guys up there but I suppose I'm not really to big on school spirit.

So, are you running the Athletic Dept down there yet? Keeping thin eating grits for breakfast? I don't think I've run more than two steps in the last ten years. I try to keep my boyish figure mountain biking when I get a chance.

Well, don't want to ramble. If your going to be around in NJ, give me a call and we'll met up or just put me on your email list.

See ya,
Peter Z

Our own Dan Magee puts in his own 2 cents in this article regarding road safety for cyclists, runners
and pedestrians in Georgia. To read the whole article click here.

Matt Schaad checks in:

Dan Magee emailed me and told me to send news about alumni to you so here it goes. Marc Willems is the head coach of the old bridge indoor and outdoor track teams. Last spring was very successful for his team. His assistant coaches include Jeff Mastroly & Jen Maczka. Both alumni. Hope you can use the info.

Best Wishes
Matt Schaad

Brett Kane checks in:

I hope that this letter finds you well. Just an update. I have left Buddakan restaurant in Philadelphia to become the General manager of Novelty Restaurant, 15 South 3rd, Philadelphia, PA. It's an exciting move, and I hope to see one or two alumni check the place out if they find themselves in the area.

Go Lions!

Talk to you soon,
Brett Kane
