Jason Faris Alumni News: Our own David Small places in 1,500 meter at Masters Nationals! Tom Metz and David Small win their division 4x800 relay at Masters Nationals! ORONO, Maine The 2002 USA Masters Outdoor Track and Field Championships ended Sunday under sunny skies and temperatures near 90 degrees. The action took place at the University of Maines Clarence Beckett Family Track & Field Center in Orono. Individual performances at the USA Championships are conducted in five-year age groups. Relay titles are conducted in ten-year age groups. Mens 1,500 meter winners today included David Small of The Running Company (M30-4:30.99), Robert Van Cleve (M35-4:14.01), Tony Young of Club Northwest (M40-3:59.34), Steve Gallegos (M45-4:11.43), David Salazar (M50-4:24.21), Harold Nolan of Shore AC (4:41.20), Sidney Howard of the Central Track Club (M60-5:00.68), Henry Hawk (M65-5:05.05), James Sutton (M70-5:42.85), Harold Johnson of the Atlanta Track Club (M75-6:58.97), 2001 champion Bill Tribou (M80-7:13.17) and 2001 second place finisher Maxwell Springer of the Knoxville TC (9:31.87). The Running Company won the 30 and over division in the 4x800 relay. Tom Metz, Rich Carlson, John Hanlon, and Dave Small led the way to victory. |
