She pressed her lips against his again taking sections of his hair between her fingers. He pulled her around her hips closer to his body and manuevered his hands underneath her top. As he pulled it up she reached around and untied the strings around her neck. He lifted it off her body and tossed it across the room. He opened his eyes as his hands travelled up her sides. Her kisses went to his neck as she slowly rocked against him. He let out a shaky breath and tilted his head to allow her better access to his skin.

“God Ruby,” he breathed. “You don’t understand how much I’ve needed this.”

“Yeah, I think I do,” she told him before kissing his lips again.

His hands went to her shorts where they searched for the button. “What the..” he broke away and looked down when he couldn’t figure out how to get her shorts off.

“Here,” she whispered and reached down to the zipper on her hip. She unzipped her shorts and Zac watched her and trailed his fingers down her stomach.

“Why do your clothes have to be so complicated?” He asked.

She laughed before leaning in to kiss his lips again. His hand went inside the side of her shorts and pulled her closer as he fell on his back.

“We have to be real quiet,” he whispered between kisses, reaching up to turn the light off.

“Okay,” she whispered back from her position on top of him.

Zac grasped the covers on his bed and pulled them down so they could crawl underneath them. By the time they were underneath the covers, every remaining item of clothing was buried somewhere in the sheets and Zac had managed to be on top of Ruby. She bent her knees and breathed out against his skin as he entered her. She shut her eyes tightly as Zac rested his head on her collarbone.

She raised her hips and ran her hands up Zac’s back as their sweaty bodies rode each other. Gradually, Zac pushed himself farther and farther into her burying his face in her long hair.

Ruby sleepily rolled over to an empty space beside her on Zac’s bed the following afternoon. She looked at the clock that read 12:35 p.m. She blinked her eyes a couple times as she woke up. She looked around at the walls and remembered where she was. She looked down at her body and sat up in bed.

“Oh my God,” she whispered. She ran her fingers through her hair and looked beside her at Zac’s pillow. Laying on it was a note Zac left.

“One evening’s love starts with a kiss.” Was all it said. The phone rang in his room startling her.

“Hello?” She tentatively answered.

“Hey sleepyhead,” Zac said.

“Hey you,” she smiled leaning against his headboard bringing the covers up to her chest. “Where are you?”

“At school on the payphone,” he told her. “You’re still at my house I presume?”

“Yeah, I just woke up.”

“Well I just wanted to check on you,” he said.

“Are you coming home after school?” She asked.

“Yeah. I have to work at 5 but I’ll come home first,” he said.

“Okay,” she smiled. “I miss you.”

“I miss you too,” Zac grinned leaning against the wall outside the cafeteria. “And oh yeah,” he lowered his voice. “Last night was like, out of control. But in a good way.”

“Yep,” she giggled. “In an amazing way.”

“So you’ll be there when I get home?” He asked.

“Yeah. Is anybody else at the house?”

“There shouldn’t be,” he told her.

“Alright.”

“Well I’ve gotta run to class. I’ll see you in a couple hours,” he said.

“Okay.”

“I love you,” he told her.

She smiled. “I love you too.”

“Bye.”

“Bye,” she said before hanging up. She found her black shorts and put them on as she got out of bed. She went over to Zac’s couch and picked up his soccer jersey on top of the stack of clean laundry and put it on. She opened the door and stuck her head out making sure no one was in the hall before she crept to the bathroom.

“I call TV,” Jessica said when she came home from school with Zac.

“Fine,” Zac said jogging up the stairs. He opened the door to his bedroom and saw Ruby on his bed reading one of his books and listening to James Taylor. He layed his backpack on the couch. “Hey gorgeous.”

“Hey there,” she smiled setting the book down.

“Damn, why can’t I come home to this everyday?” He said crawling on the bed next to her.

“How was your day?” She asked wrapping her arms around his torso from behind and bringing him in between her legs.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about you,” he told her resting against her body running his hands down her legs. “I brought you a present,” he said pulling a Blow Pop out of his pocket.

“Aww thanks. Green Apple’s my favorite,” she said taking it and laying it down beside her. “I liked waking up in your bed,” she said before giving him a kiss on the cheek. She ran her hands up and down his stomach under the t-shirt he wore.

“Mm,” Zac closed his eyes and enjoyed the feeling of his body touching hers. “I liked waking up and seeing you next to me.

“You sleepy?” She asked gently brushing her fingers through his hair.

“Kind of,” he said quietly.

“Why don’t you go take a nap?” She said beginning to massage his shoulders.

“Oh man,” he moaned dropping his head down as Ruby’s hands rubbed his back.

“Does that feel good?”

“Mm hmm.”

“Lay on your stomach and I’ll give you a massage,” she offered.

“Oh my gosh, you’re the best,” he said stretching out on his bed face down. Ruby positioned herself so she was kneeling over him and worked her hands down his back. “Oh my God,” he moaned into the pillow.

She laughed. “Damn boy, your back is like, one big knot. How often do you work out for soccer?”

“Like, everyday,” he told her. “Mm, right there. Oh yeah,” he said when her hands went to his lower back.

“Did you know that 75 percent of casual massages end up in sex?” She asked.

“Really now?” He lifted his head up. “Well then I think my shirt’s gotta go.”

“I definitely agree,” she said lifting his t-shirt off his body. “God,” she whispered moving her hands down his biceps.

“What?”

“You’re just.. I mean, you’ve gotten... bigger since...”

“Since I was 16?”

“Yeah.”

“So you’re saying I’m fat?” He asked.

“No,” she laughed. “I’m saying you’re hot. You’ve got a really nice body.”

“Ah, it gets me places,” he said modestly.

She laughed and leaned down to place a kiss on the back of his neck. “I hear people,” she said as the front door opened and Zac’s mother returned home with the rest of the kids.

“No,” he groaned into his pillow.

“We could always go over to my house,” Ruby said in his ear. “We don’t have to be quiet there.”

Zac scurried up and picked his t-shirt off the floor. He put it on and took Ruby’s hand as he lead her down the stairs.
