“I’ve never met anyone like you before,” Zac said trailing his fingertip across her
chest where the lavendar fabric of her bra met her skin.
She picked up his hand in hers and laced her fingers between his. “You’re
amazing.”
Zac smiled and looked down at the green eyes that he trusted so much. “So are
you. You wanna know something?”
“Hmm?”
“You’re the only girl I’ve ever been interested in that didn’t leave me for my
brother,” Zac confessed.
“Taylor?”
“Yeah,” he breathed. “I guess I’m just confused why you’re with me and not with
him.”
“Why on earth would I be with him?” She asked releasing his hand and tracing his
eyebrows with her fingertips.
“Cause,” he stated. “He’s Taylor.”
“Zac,” her eyes met his. “I don’t care. I’ve met your brother like, 5 times. He’s a
nice guy, but he’s not you.”
Zac took in a deep breath and let his eyes roam her body half-covered by her
bedspread. “God,” he breathed before kissing her cheek moving close to her lips. “What
did I do to deserve you?”
“Zac, you are so beautiful. I don’t care what your brother does, he’s not gonna
steal me away from you.”
“Well he’s never dated a girl that I liked first - we wouldn’t do that to eachother.
‘Bros before hos’ he would say,” Zac said impersonating Taylor.
Ruby laughed. “Nice motto.”
“It’s just that everytime I’d bring a girl over, or we’d meet a girl, she’d head
straight for Taylor,” he explained.
“Well none of that matters cause you’ve got me now,” she smiled tucking his hair
behind his ear.
“Yeah,” Zac smiled. “Enough about Taylor.”
“So are you hungry? Cause I am,” she told him.
“Yes. But I don’t wanna get out of bed,” Zac said leaning his head down on her
chest.
“You know what we can do?” Ruby asked reaching over Zac for the cordless
phone.
“Hmm?”
“How does Chinese sound?” She smiled dialing the number to the restaurant.
“Wonderful,” Zac murmered into her neck. “Can they deliver to the bedroom?”

“Now, you know what I don’t understand about this movie?” Zac asked picking
up a piece of sesame chicken out of the box with his chopsticks.
“Hmm?” She leaned against him wearing her bra and underwear sitting on the bed.
“Does it take place in England or America? You can’t tell,” he said referring to
WillyWonka and the Chocolate Factory playing on Ruby’s television.
“That’s the enigma of the movie,” she said taking a bite of her rice. “Charlie and
his family are like, the only Americans.”
“Well so is Willy Wonka. But see, the teacher, the candy store guy, Veruca and
her dad are all British,” Zac explained.
“They’re so in England,” she decided.
“Maybe they’re trying to convey to children that everyone’s equal - British or
otherwise,” he reasoned.
Ruby laughed. “Maybe,” she said. “Here, open,” she told him holding a piece of
chicken in front of his mouth.
He took it from her chopsticks and nodded approvingly. She placed her hand
across his cheek and leaned in to kiss him. She placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth
and leaned her forehead against his. “Mm, tell me I don’t have to go home - ever,” he
said.
“Alright,” she smiled. “As long as you stay in my bed and don’t put your clothes
on.”
“Sounds good to me,” he smiled back.
“Everything’s alright at home, right?” Ruby asked in a concerned tone brushing
her fingertips down his bare stomach.
“Yeah,” he said reaching over for his can of Dr. Pepper. “As good as can be
expected in that house.”
“I’d love to grow up in your house. You’ve got such a big family - your parents
get along,” she said finishing off her sweet and sour chicken.
Zac let out a small laugh. “Usually.” He dug through his box with his chopsticks
for the last piece of chicken while he contemplated his next question. “So where’s your
dad? If ...you don’t mind.”
“He’s in Las Vegas,” she told him cleaning the empty boxes off her bed. “My
parents got divorced like, 10 years ago.”
“Oh,” Zac said not knowing what else to say. “How often do you see him?”
Ruby shrugged her shoulders crawling back into bed with him. “Last time I saw
him was when I graduated high school.”
“Wow,” he said letting her lay her head in his lap. “Does that bother you?”
“Yeah sometimes,” she absent-mindedly replied staring at the light blonde hair on
his legs. “There’s issues between us and between him and my sister that might not ever be
resolved. But,” she sighed, “that’s life. I mean, he’s not a bad guy. He never beat us or
anything. And I don’t want to give you some big sob story like I’ve had such a hard life,
cause I haven’t. Everyone’s got their problems though.”
“That’s true,” he said taking her hands in his. “You’re a tough girl,” he told her
leaning down to kiss her forehead. He released her hands and gently trailed his fingers up
her inner thighs. She smiled moving her lips to his in an upside-down kiss. Her hands
went above her into his hair as one of his hands moved to her stomach. She instructed
him what she wanted - again - and slowly guided his hand down her stomach. Zac smiled
against her lips and moved his hand back up to her stomach.
“Mm,” she moaned in a frustrated tone.
Zac broke away from the kiss. “What?” He asked smiling innocently.
