Emerging out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, five musicians who share a strong musical vision are exploding onto the international music scene with their hard-edged, dynamic and powerful sound. Through determination and intensity 3RD DEGREE is turning heads with its energy and presence both on the stage and through its latest independent release 'Step Inside'.
Featuring the tracks Spindrift, Favours, Unstuck, 5 Thru 5, Never Like Me, and Behind Closed Doors, 'Step Inside' is an invitation to enter the collective mind known as 3RD DEGREE. Through a unique new metal style, blending many musical elements, musicians Grant Judge, Dave Dwyer, Eddy Ront and Steven Nurse create a powerful, emotionally driven sound while vocalist Blaine Jeffrey provides thought-provoking lyrics based on the darker sides of relationships. Together, 3RD DEGREE makes light from the darkness on 'Step Inside'.
3RD DEGREE entered the studio in the spring of 2000 to record 'Step Inside'. Under limited recording time and a small budget, the band completed all six songs at Cow With A View studios over three days. With the help of up and coming producer/recording engineer Dan Reid and mastering engineer Phil Demetro at Lacquer Channel, the tracks were mixed and mastered exceptionally well.
3RD DEGREE released its first independent album, 3RD DEGREE self titled, in 1998. 'Our first CD set a solid foundation for us. We sold out shows at Lee's Palace, and El Mocambo very consistently and saw an energy and enthusiasm in our fans that let us know we were on the right track.' says Blaine Jeffery. The album received a rating of four check marks out of five when reviewed by University of Toronto newspaper The Strand.
Furthermore, 3RD DEGREE is best experienced live. Collectively, they generate an astoundingly energetic atmosphere on stage, electrifying their audiences with sonic assaults of heavy grooves and moody soulful melodies. Drawing big crowds to their shows without media hype, 3RD DEGREE received recognition in Toronto's Eye Magazine.
