i won't teach you to be a rock star

i teach guitar lessons on monday evenings. i had girl take lessons this summer for a few weeks. she said to me, "i just want to learn how to do the basics, i don't want to be a rock star."

i said, "i can't teach you to be a rock star. in fact, i won't teach you to be a rock star. you have to figure that out for yourself."

there was a little bit of laughter, then i added "i don't even know what a rock star is."

classic rock bores me lately. blues too. if anything like that comes on to XRT, i change the station.

people have been asking me when i'm gonna put out some new music. daniel and i met in september and went over 12 songs or so. it was a beautiful day and experience, we're gonna meet again the next few weeks to do that again - brainstorm some more, maybe do some arrangement, we'll see

over thanksgiving my mom told me how she went into the attic of her parent's barn the other day, she said "it would make a great recording studio." endquote. it got me thinking....

put that with the "Islands in the Sky" CD I just recieved from Jake Miller of Goshen last week and hearing the ensemble and joy from it and I knew what I am to do. In the note to me he wrote "don't let you're dreams die." so i won't, it will be a dream come true if i track the next tom adamson record in my grandparents barn, and include many of my friends as possible. i'm not trying to make a islands in the sky part two or anything, it will sound like me, but that's where i want to do it. so when the weather warms up we'll lay some tape.
