Japan and Europe were united in the Pacific War.  Japan, Germany and Italy formed an alliance.

 

According to the 2003 Guiness Book of Records, 40% of printed material in Japan is manga (comic’s).  Japanese Animation is much more mature than it’s overseas rivals.

 

It isn’t unusual to find japanese animation (anime) with a content-rating of M15+ or R18.  This is generally for the same reasons as such ratings found in hollywood, and not just mindless nudity and violence.

 

The genre of Science Fiction is heavily explored in anime whereas a lot of the rival’s tend to focus on Fantasy or Reality.

 

Much great anime is based on manga.  Serial’s such as Dragonball Z, Rurouni Kenshin were precluded by manga’s.
