Alternate Titles

"Communion"? "Holy Terror"?
The Alternate Titles of "Alice, Sweet Alice"
Alice, Sweet Alice has had many title changes throughout it's history. The original film made it's premiere on November 13th, 1976 in Paterson, New Jersey (where it was filmed), as Communion. This was the original title that Alfred Sole and filmmakers agreed on, and it was the intended title.
The film was then given a national re-release in 1978, and the title was changed by the distributors to Alice, Sweet Alice, much to director Alfred Sole's dismay. The purpose was to try and cash in on Brooke Shield's fame, who had become popular after her performance as a young prostitute in "Pretty Baby"
Then, a mere four years after the film given a re-release as Alice, Sweet Alice, it was done again in 1982. This time the title was changed to Holy Terror, this time for the same purpose - to cash in on Brooke Shield's fame, this time for her performance in "Blue Lagoon".
The result of all these title changes was one big tangled mess. People from all over saw the film under different titles, resulting in mass confusion. Today, the film is known strictly as Alice, Sweet Alice.
