About the Film > Plot Overview

Catherine Spages is a devout Catholic single mother living in Paterson, NJ with two young daughters - Alice, 12, and Karen, 9.
Karen is the favored daughter of the family, and Alice is sort of left out of the spotlight. For Karen's first confession, their priest,
Father Tom, gives her a beautiful crucifix necklace. Alice is resentful toward's her mother's favortism towards Karen, and she takes
out her anger by playing mean tricks on Karen, and scaring her with a spooky mask she has. Then, on the day of Karen's first holy
Communion, she is brutally strangled and lit on fire by a killer in a yellow rainslicker with a mask very similar to the one Alice owns.

Since Karen's veil is found being worn by Alice, and the fact that she was the last person to enter the church, the police have some
major suspicion towards her. She insists that she didn't do anything, and her loving mother believes her. While Catherine's sister,
Annie, believes that Alice may have something to do with it, Alice's estranged father, Dom, returns to town, and insists that Alice
had nothing to do with Karen's death. Then one rainy afternoon, Aunt Annie is stabbed in the stairway by the same masked murderer,
after she and Alice had a confrontation. Annie survives, and tells the police it was Alice that savagely stabbed her. Alice insists
that she saw Karen in the basement, and that she believes Karen stabbed Annie. As time goes on, Alice becomes more suspicious.

But is a twelve year old girl really capable of murder and such things? Or is there somebody else who is hiding behind the mask?
