Alice Spages, played by Paula Sheppard
Alice is the daughter of Catherine Spages and Dom, and the sister of Karen Spages.
She lives with her single mother and sister in an apartment building, and comes from
a devout Catholic family. After Karen is murdered at their church on the occasion of
her first communion, the withdrawn Alice becomes the prime suspect in the case. She
spends most of her time in the apartment's basement, where she has a trunk of assorted
belongings. Is little, innocent Alice really capable of murder?
Catherine Spages, played by Linda Miller
Catherine is the mother of both Alice and Karen. She is your average, working-class
single mother trying to support her daughters. She is divorced from Dom, but still has
deep-seated feelings for him. After her youngest daughter, Karen, is murdered, her life
begins a downward spiral into hysteria. With the police and her sister, Annie, accusing
her eldest daughter, Alice, of murder, she doesn't know what to believe. She spends
her time at home taking care of her daughters and working.
Aunt Annie, played by Jane Lowry
Annie is Catherine's sister and the aunt of Alice and Karen. She is very close with the
family and attends mass with them, but she and Alice do not get along at all. After
Karen is found dead, Annie is the first to commit Alice as the suspect, trying to convince
Dom and Catherine that Alice is responsible. Annie is later stabbed in the apartment
stairwell by the masked killer. She survives the attack, but to Catherine's dismay, tells
the police that it was Alice who is responsible.
Dominick 'Dom' Spages, played my Niles McMaster
Dominick, nicknamed 'Dom', is Catherine's ex-husband and the father of Alice and Karen.
He and Catherine are divorced and he has re-married another woman. After Karen's
death, Dom returns to town to assist the grieving Catherine and try and find the murderer.
He dismisses the police and Annie's remarks about Alice being responsible, and tries to
work with the detectives and police department to prove Annie's accusations wrong.
He and Annie also do not get along well.
Mrs. Tredoni, played by Mildred Clinton
Mrs. Tredoni is an extremely devout Catholic woman whose whole life revolves around
her faith and the church. She lives with Father Tom, the priest of Saint Michael's church,
and is his housekeeper and assistant. She is a little extreme with her beliefs, saying that
Catherine is a whore for having Alice in wedlock, and does not tolerate sin at all.
While she may seem like a nice woman and a good asset to the church, she is just
a tad bit strange...
Karen Spages, played by Brooke Shields
Karen is Catherine's youngest daughter and Alice's younger sister, and her father is Dom.
She and her older sister seem to fight a lot, and Alice even locks her in a room at an old
building after stealing her doll. Karen is obviously the favored child in the family, and
recieves most of the attention from everyone around her (her mother, priest, etc.), leaving
Alice in the shadows. Poor Karen is murdered and lit on fire at church on the day of her
first Holy communion. Who killed innocent Karen?
Father Tom, played by Rudolph Willrich
Father Tom is the local priest at Saint Michael's Catholic church, where Catherine, Annie,
Alice, and Karen, along with others, attend. He is a friendly man and gives Karen a crucifix
necklace after her first confession. He lives in a house with Mrs. Tredoni as his housekeeper
and assistant. He is also a teacher at the private Catholic school, and is worried about Alice's
withdrawn behavior, although he never accuses her of murder.
