Simply the Beginning

From the moment he first started to do it, wrestling felt natural to him, however it was only by chance that young Mark Hazing from Jacksonville Florida would find his hidden gift. It all started during his freshman year of high school. When he first enrolled, he had no idea that he'd end up spending four years of high school, competing in wrestling matches against students... be it on the local, regional, or national levels. No, way back when he was planning his four years of high school, it was football that he thought he'd be playing. Mark had always had a knack for the quarterback position, however as it would turn out, young Mark Hazing missed the football sign-ups that first year. With the football team already assembled, Mark looked to other sports. A chance lunch hour encounter with a senior however would soon send Mark down a path that would one day lead him to the MWA. How it began is still clear in his head to this day.

One day, during lunch, Mark saw a girl name Katie whom he shared the same study hall with. Katie was a sweet and pretty young brunette whose smile alone could stop traffic. Deciding to get to know her better, Mark made his way over and joined Katie for lunch. As it turned out, Katie had a boyfriend in the senior class that year, a tough guy named Vance who was captain of the school's varsity wrestling team. Little did Mark know, Vance was very possessive of Katie and also quite jealous of any man who talked to her. To those who knew Vance, it came as no surprise when Vance immediately began making trouble for young Mark. Upon catching Katie talking to Mark, Vance showed just how much of a hothead he was and went over to confront Mark and Katie. Without saying a word, Vance attempted to take Mark down using his wrestling prowess. For a moment it looked like Vance had Mark's number. As Vance was trying to use a choke that was banned in school competition, Mark found a way to not only break the choke, but reverse the situation on Vance and put Vance into some sort of improvised move that had Vance begging for mercy. As kids had now gathered around to watch Vance and Mark, some teachers were pushing their way through to break it all up. Of all people to break it up, it was Coach Bahl, the man who not only taught gym class, but coached the varsity wrestling team as well. Coach Bahl, needless to say, was so impressed that Mark had his team's captain begging for mercy, he'd later pull Mark aside and asked him to come to the varsity tryouts in a few weeks. Normally it is unheard of for a freshman to be asked to come to varsity tryouts but a freshman actually making it onto the varsity team was even more unheard of. Long story short, despite all the odds, Mark decided to tryout for the team and easily earned himself a spot. The following year as a Sophomore he'd be named Team Captain and go on to continue dominating the high school wrestling scene for his entire fours he spent there. Mark went on from high school to find even more success at the college level, eventually signing a contract with the MWA. A contract which brought him to Milwaukee last week where he was supposed to have his first match, and now to Chicago where he finally will.

It is the night before BattleZone and Mark is restless. To help curb his anxiety, he decided around 9pm that he should go out check out one of a few kareoke bars that he had been told about. Apparently, many of the MWA superstars enjoy kareoke, so Mark thought he might even run into some of them. Having looked aroud thoroughly for anyone he has met so far, Mark comes to the conclusion that either none of the other wrestlers are here or he just don't know the ones who are. Nevertheless, Mark sits up at the bar and peruses through a book of songs listed by title, artist, and genre. After what seemed like an hour, Mark finds one and then walks over to the booth beside the stage and gives the KJ(Kareoke Jockey) his name and song number.

As Mark leaves the KJ booth, he literrally bumps into a girl who has been eyeing him up all night. She was with a group of friends off on the other side of the room while Mark played darts with some bar regulars, but now her friends are nowhere in sight and she has successfully broken out of the pack.
