Chapter Three : Sapphire Eyes.

Relena sat on Treize's seat as she contemplated her next plan of action. Drumming long fingers against the handle and idling swirling a small blue ring around her finger, the new leader sat back, her mind concentrating on the two youths that presented a problem to her search for universal power.

"Is all well my queen?" Noin asked as she appeared from the shadows. Due to Trowa's death, she was now in charge of the Yonrose.

"Come to me Noin." Relena replied as her eyes focused on her taller lover. Noin climbed the small flight of steps and enfolded her koibito in a hug. Relena visibly relaxed, resting her head against Noin's chest.

"I need your complete devotion to me Noin .I can't win this without you." Relena said as skillful fingers combed through her honeyed locks.

"Very well Relena. Once that outlaw heads out from Dawn 78, we'll destroy his ship." Noin said as she looked at Relena. The blond shook her head.

"No Noin. That Outlaw is not important. It is the Dragon Hunter and a boy with violet eyes. They possess magic, and if the violet eyed one reaches his full potential, it could be dangerous." Relena said as her brow furrowed.

"You wounded him, non?" Noin asked.

"Yes. But if what I felt in that DH's heart is true, the violet one should be well soon. We must prepare for battle. " Relena said as she loosened herself from her lover's grasp. Brushing away imaginary specks of dust from her gown, Relena surrounded herself in a blue bubble.

"Where are you going?" Noin asked as Relena's eyes became surrounded by a pale blue light.

"Back to the Dawn78. I have a plan that might work, I just need my bait." Relena said as she disappeared from Noin's sight.

Duo opened violet orbs as he sat up in bed. The pain from his back was gone, all five senses tingled with revival as the boy stretched, limbs contracting back and forth, as if awakened from a deep sleep. Swinging his legs to the side of the bed, Duo's bare feet touched the cold metal floor and his eyes exploded with a purple light for a brief moment before slowly fading away. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Duo stumbled over to WuFei who sat sleeping in the bare chair in the room, raven locks scattered across a bronzed face. Duo knelt resting on one knee as his hand slowly brushed back the raven tresses, something that he had dreamed of doing for so long. With long fingers, Duo traced the outline of WuFei's face, daring to breath quietly in order not to wake the sleeping hunter. Duo sighed as his hands slid down to WuFei's neck, pushing aside part of the white robe that was part of WuFei's attire. Ebony eyes snapped open and Duo fell back from WuFei as the boy pushed him away, some distant fear in his eyes as he regarded Duo on the floor.

"Damn! You almost gave me a heart attack!" Duo exclaimed as he pulled himself off the floor. WuFei pinned him with an accusatory look.

"What were you doing?" WuFei replied as he adjusted his robes. Duo blushed and stammered a reply.

"Just making sure that you were comfortable, that's all." Duo replied with a nervous chuckle. WuFei eyed Duo dubiously.

"Have it your way. No doubt that you're fine. I'll call your friends." WuFei said as he stepped out of the room and gave a shout that roused the other sleepers. A minute later, everyone assembled at the door and grateful smiles met Duo.

"Glad to see you up and running partner." Catherine said as she hugged Duo tightly.

"I feel fine. So, what's the next order of business?" Duo asked, his gaze lingering on WuFei.

"Do what ever you people want, I'm leaving." WuFei said as he pushed himself off the wall which he leaned against.

"Why?" Zechs asked, echoing Duo's thoughts. WuFei turned around, his ebony orbs shrouded in mystery.

"Are you that eager to die?" WuFei asked as he spun on his heel and walked off. He stopped for a moment and stared back at Duo, fixing the youth with a glare. "And don't even *think* about following me Maxwell." WuFei said as he continued down the hallway, catching a ride on the lift. Pain shone in Duo's eyes as he clutched his hands shut. Catherine regarded her now fuming partner.

"Duo, don't take it personally. He just saved your life. And besides, it's not like we can go against the Plunderers." Catherine said with a shake of her brown curls. Violet eyes focused on Catherine.

"It's our duty Catherine, and besides, that blond haired woman almost killed me. I owe her one...and by the time I catch up with her…I'll be able to use the power within me." Duo said as he picked up his boots and put them on, deftly tying up laces and the like.

"One question officer. How are you going to get to the Yonrose?" Heero asked as he folded his arms, hard cobalt fixed on the braided Allianoz. A moment of silence reigned until Duo broke out in a nervous chuckle.

"Commander Une took the last cruiser with her to Tekken3." Duo replied as he scratched the side of his face. Catherine mentally smacked her hand to her head.

"Well, then, I guess that we should be going then. Dawn approaches." Quatre said as he tugged at Heero's arm.

"Hey! Can't I come along with you guys? You're *bound* to run into the Sapphires again, now that you're on their list. I can help protect you as an Allainoz officer!" Duo said as he smiled hopefully at Zechs. Zechs gapped at Duo.

"I have a rep. to build Duo! I can't have you on my ship?!" Zechs said in a horrified voice. Duo turned on his charm and focused on Quatre.

"Please? Come on, you're doing me a big favour. And besides, Catherine can run this place by herself, can't you Cathy?" Duo asked as he clutched his partner's arms. Hilde patted Catherine's back in apology.

"Let's take him with us Zechs. We could use the extra help." Quatre said.

"Heero?" Zechs asked as both shades of blue eyes met. Heero simply nodded.

"Fine fine. Let's go. We've lost valuable time." Zechs said with an exasperated sigh. Waving goodbye to Catherine and Hilde, the now crew of four headed down to the space dock. Five minutes later of haggling with Geyon, the ship finally let Duo onboard and they prepared for departure.

WuFei stood at the top of a building as he watched Duo and his friends enter a small dark blue ship with green jagged strips running at its sides. WuFei shut his eyes, and a sad smile overcame him. I will not have anyone's blood on my hands, not ever again.

Duo sat in his seat as Zechs got permission from the space port to take off. He tapped lightly at his console. Zechs had assigned him the task of right side defenses, something that he was pretty good at. He hit the camera button on his console and Geyon's right side lenses came on.

"Could you quickly scan 5 kilometers eastward? I'm looking for something." Duo asked.

"Now scanning." Geyon replied as he made the scan, picking up nothing unusual. Duo caught the black and white blur and a bubble of blue and golden light.

"Wait! Focus on the R4 gradient." Duo asked. Geyon enhanced the picture and sure enough, WuFei came into full view on Duo's window, a sad smile across his face as he stared off at something in the distance. Duo's eyes widened as the same woman from the night before made her appearance and using her blond locks, surprised WuFei from behind.

"I'm detecting abnormal energy waves." Geyon said as he displayed the struggle between WuFei and Relena on all his windows. Blue and golden light shot out in a bright wave of light and Duo could see WuFei's lips part in a scream. An evil smile flitted over the woman's face as she jabbed her hand through WuFei's side, the Dragon Hunter's eyes frozen in pain. The woman looked up, straight at Geyon and she giggled. With a laugh, she dragged WuFei into her bubble and disappeared.

"She got WuFei! Damn! He didn’t look okay. We've got to go after her!" Zechs said as he hastily strapped on his seatbelt, Heero and Quatre doing the same. A pang of pain went through Duo's heart as he absorbed the scene that replayed in his mind.

"No…no. NO!" Duo screamed as his fist tightened so hard, he cut himself, tears flooded his eyes and a purple aura surrounded him, his feelings intensifying tenfold.

"Quatre, abnormal energy waves detected, from the newcomer, and it's growing!" Geyon said as the ship began to rattle and shake. Three shades of blue eyes focused on Duo, and panic took a hold of each one.

"Duo! Stop it!" Heero yelled as he got out of his seat and grabbed the enraged boy by the shoulders. As soon as Heero touched Duo, a shock went through his system and he let go, his hands showing signs of burns.

"Heero!" Quatre shouted as he picked up his injured lover. Tears spilled from his cheeks.

"Duo." Quatre whispered, clutching his lover's injured hands. The voice calmed Duo down, the flare up of energy ebbing quickly.

"I'm sorry Quatre. Just…need to get WuFei." Duo whispered in a pained voice as he passed out on his console, a shiver working its way through him. Zechs unbuckled himself and made his way over to Duo's side. Cradling the chestnut haired boy, Zechs slapped his face a bit.

"Take Heero to the sickbay. The burns aren't too serious." Zechs said as he patted Quatre's back. Quatre nodded and helped his koi to the sickbay. Turning his attention back to Duo, Zechs spoke to Geyon.

"Can you trace where that lady went?" he asked as he saw Duo begin to stir awake.

"Partially. Whatever vessel she is on is orbiting our current location. I can't pinpoint it since I'm not designed to deal with energy signals created by magic." Geyon responded after a moment. Zechs shook his head. Just what kind of situation have I gotten myself into? He lamented. Duo's eyes opened, a distinct pain in them that struck Zechs as odd.

"Are you okay Duo? You almost brought my whole ship down with that outburst. Mind giving me a warning for next time?" Zechs asked with a gentle smile.

"I'm sorry. I guess that my power just hit me, after seeing Fei like that." Duo replied.

"So, what is your power?" Zechs asked. Duo sat up, and warped his braid around his finger.

"I can create barriers and become mentally attached to someone. When my emotions intensify like it did now, it's like I create an explosion that pulses out in waves. This is the full estimate of my power, and I do all these things with mostly my mind and a few spells. I've never felt this kind of energy before." Duo said as he gazed down at his hands. Zechs nodded.

"WuFei caused your power to rocket like that?" Zechs asked.

"Yes. Is...is Heero all right?" Duo asked, a guilty look on his face.

"Lucky for you that it wasn't serious." Heero's voice spoke from the doorway.

"I'm sorry." Duo said as he looked at Heero.

"No problem. I won't grab you when you're mad like that next time." Heero said with a smile. Quatre knelt by Duo's side and a comforting gaze.

"I know how you feel ...about WuFei. Don't worry, we'll help you get him back." Quatre said as turquoise eyes reassured Duo.

"Wait a damn minute. Are you nuts?!" Zechs yelled as he stood up.

"I agree with Zechs. The Yonrose did a lot of damage to me in our last battle." Geyon spoke up.

"Quiet Geyon. We can sneak aboard, or something." Quatre said.

"I wouldn't want you to go through all that trouble. Just let me handle this." Duo spoke up. Three pairs of eyes focused on him.

"You can't be serious." Heero said in a matter-of-factly tone.

"I am. Look, you guys will have to eventually face those Plunderers whether you like it or not. Why don't we do it now?" Duo asked. A silence fell over the group until Zechs spoke up.

"We'll face them Duo. We just need a plan, on our own terms." Zechs said.

"Then I have one to suggest." Duo said. Zechs nodded and the four sat down to plan.

Onboard the Yonrose. Relena chained WuFei down in lead locks around his hands and legs and placed him in a circle charged with electricity. Around that was a bubble of dark blue light, the bubble crinkling a bit with the magic that formed it. WuFei's' wound was already knitting back together, but the Dragon Hunter was in a lot of pain. After all, who knew that Relena's hair had been poisoned from the start?

"Isn't he still dangerous?" Noin asked as Relena stood before the bubble. Relena smirked and stretched her hand into the bubble. It passed through easily and her hand pushed back the locks of hair from WuFei's face, pained ebony eyes glared at Relena and she withdrew her hand.

"Oh no Noin. He's blinded in pain for the moment. You see, when I immobilized him, the other boy reached his full potential and now, the mind link that he has with this boy has strengthened. Using the mind link's energy, we can easily over load the Tenkuu's control panel since the ship operates on mind energy and emotions. They've played right into my hands, although I didn't know until last night that unknown to the DH, the violet eyed boy had formed a mind link with him for a good 5 years now." Relena said with a laugh that echoed into nothingness.

"Excellent my love. We shall lead the Geyon on and as soon as our wish is fulfilled, we'll crush them." Noin said as she nodded in agreement with Relena's plan.

"Yes, and then, the power of Son Goku's Halo will be ours for the taking. And what a rather lovely specimen that the violet eyed boy chose. No doubt that further damage to this Dragon Hunter will strengthen the mind link." Relena said with another laugh. From within his prison, WuFei tried to ease the pain that the poison caused by casting small healing spells while he slipped in and out of consciousness. He caught the last few lines of Relena's speech. He knew enough about mind links to know that whoever formed them had an either intense feeling of hate or love for the person that they formed it with, and WuFei had a strong sense that it wasn't the former.
