Chapter Ten : Whisper in the Shadows.

Silentum awoke the next morning, determination in cobalt eyes. He gathered his belongings. After his bath, he approached Puritas-Pac as she and the other angels sat down for breakfast.

"We should return to Etheria. We need to restore it. The daemons can’t do it on their own." Silentum said as he sat down.

"But some of us must stay and keep this world in order." Garriere said as she folded her arms.

"I’ll stay." Puritas-Pac said as she lifted blue eyes. Silentum nodded.

"I’ll go as well. Conscientia, stay with Relena, you too Sally. You will provide the strength that Puritas needs to guide the Earthlings. Silentum and I will keep a stronghold in Etheria and once you find capable leaders for this world, we shall summon you home at once. Our presence in this world should cease to exist." Confusus said. They nodded. Confusus and Silentum left for Etheria the same way that the daemons did.

A day later, the two angels arrived in the Providence of Winglies. The town was bustling with activity as beings cleaned their homes, rebuilt old ones, painted their town with its subdued colors. Silentum and Confusus tucked their wings away and blended in with the crowd. The daemons were waiting in the center of town. Beside them, many stood in feverish excitement.

"Heero, what do you think is happening?" Treize asked as a child flew by him, long sunny locks in many curls.

"Someone’s on their way here. Maybe Shingami." Heero replied. He narrowed cobalt eyes. He would only return if he found WuFei…

A hush fell over the crowd as someone in a dark cloak came strolling in.

"Hi everyone!" Shingami said as he strolled in, wings outstretched as he walked through the streets, shaking everyones hands and smiling. WuFei blushed as many eyes greeted him with awe and wonder.

"He’s beautiful." A boy whispered. Several eyes watched Shingami’s chosen and the weapon in his hand, the shimmering green wings and those endless obsidian eyes.

"Duo, a lot of people live here. Such diversity." WuFei said as he shook a hand offered to him. The girl blushed and ran back to her friends, some staring in envy.

"They’re the greatest folk to live with babe." Shingami said as he kissed WuFei’s cheek. WuFei blushed.

"I see. Who are those two girls waving at you? I mean, aside from the other million?" WuFei asked as he spotted a blue haired girl in a gypsy’s costume. The two girls ran over and bowed.

"I’m Hirde, and this is Iria. We are honored to meet you." Hirde said as she stood up.

"I met them at the bar in town before I left. Hirde had a note that Nataku left about you. I wouldn’t have found you without their help." Shingami said as he nodded for the two girls to follow him.

Treize spotted Crudelis, Verrere and Deceptus; all three golden haired daemons bowing as Shingami stood before them.

"Heero, look who Shingami found." Treize whispered as he gestured to the angel on the daemon’s hand. Cobalt eyes looked up and stood still. WuFei stood, radiating warmth all around him, blushing as Crudelis made a joke that set Shingami laughing. You look as beautiful as ever…

"Shingami-sama, good to see you again. Those bandits that met you and WuFei, only one survived. Really, you shouldn’t scare people like that." Crudelis said as he hugged his master.

"Uh, come on Quatre, they were going to hurt WuFei. I can’t allow that." Shingami said as he hugged his friends, some squealing at the fierce hug.

"WuFei, you look at fresh as ever." Deceptus said as he kissed WuFei’s hand.

"Zechs." WuFei said as he blushed. Quatre grabbed the Chinese boy and kissed his lips, grining at Shingami. The daemon mock-scowled as the over excited daemon set his koi down.

"Nice to meet you again. Your death was very honorable. Nataku was proud." Crudelis said with a serious smile.

"Yes. She’s happy. But I’m glad that she managed to bring me here. I wouldn’t have seen any of you if she hadn’t rescued me." WuFei said as sadness entered those velvet depths. Iria put a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"Many sad things happen in every world, but we must remember the good that the person has done and not mourn their passing." She said as her blue eyes shone with wisdom.

A moment of silence settled over the group.

"Let’s have a festival in Nataku’s honor. She brought peace to the Earth and brought WuFei to us. That’s a lot to be thankful for. Come on!" Shingami said as he took WuFei’s hand and flew to his palace. A smile settled on the group. Verrere and Legalis escorted Hirde and Iria in, both daemons exchanging twin smirks as they kissed the two girls. Both girls blushed.

"Verrere…" Hirde said as she smacked the daemon’s hand.

"Call me Dorothy. And my beautiful koi is Noin." Dorothy said as she twisted her elegant eyebrows.

Heero smiled as he watched WuFei turn around to survey the land before he went in. Heero caught a sparkle in those velvet eyes before he was captured by Shingami’s joyful amethyst gaze. I’m coming to get you WuFei…

"Heero, should we head for Ethereal?" Treize asked as he and Heero walked through the streets.

"Yes. Go ahead. I don’t want anyone to known that I’m back. Summon the others once you reach there and our power will gradually replenish the land. Puritas would have found a suitable replacement if she used her searching arrow. I’ll join you in a day or two. I need to assess Shingami’s influence here." Heero said. Treize nodded. He had only seen a look in his leader’s eyes intensify as he watched WuFei when he and Shingami appeared.

"Hai. Be safe Heero-sama." Treize said as he hurried out of the town, with the help of two fairies. Heero faced the palace and he headed in its in direction.

Shingami yawned as he settled into sleep. Against his chest, WuFei stirred awake, stretching sore muscles in relief. He smiled softly as the sleeping daemon nuzzled closer to him, purring against his neck in content. WuFei slid out of the spacious bed, silk sheets barely rustling as he rested against the open window, breathing in the night air. The twin moons of Etheria shone brightly as if there were sharing a secret. So beautiful, like Earth… WuFei pulled out of his thoughts as he heard someone walk past the door. He stepped away from the window. He picked up his white pants and tossed on Shingami’s black shirt. The scent of roses that was his koi’s hair invaded his senses. WuFei smiled and untucked his wings and headed out of the door.

Shingami turned and tossed in his bed, something akin to panic on his face.

~~~~~~~~ Duo cringed as Heero crept unto his bed, angel wings rustling slightly as the angel settled over Duo.

"What are you doing here Silentum?" Shingami asked as he felt those strong hands hold him captive.

"Teaching you a lesson. You can’t have someone like WuFei. He’s too pure for the likes of you. And call me Heero." Heero said as he smiled, cobalt eyes hardened.

"Let me go. WuFei is mine." Duo said as he struggled against the angel whose lips twisted in a feral smile. The door opened and WuFei came in and dropped the glass that he was holding.

"Duo, I don’t understand." WuFei said as he backed into the door that closed behind him.

"WuFei, get away from here. I’ll handle Heero." Shingami said as he summoned his weapon and shoved Heero off. The angel rolled and pulled WuFei into his arms as he stood.

"He doesn’t need you. That’s what he has Zechs for." Heero said as his eyes softened, fingers trailing over WuFei’s cheek.

"No. Duo loves me." WuFei cried as he pushed away from Heero.

"You won’t love him once I’m done with him." Hero said as his eyes turned cold again as he slammed into Duo, sending them both hurtling into the large window. WuFei cried out as the two knights clashed, weapons sparkling in the twin moons of Etheria.

"Stop, please." WuFei shouted as Heero cornered Duo against the window ledge.

"Never challenge anyone unless you stand a chance." Shingami snarled as his amethyst eyes lit in anger, fangs bared, chestnut hair in a flowing stream. He delivered a blow to Heero’s chest, the angel stumbling backwards. WuFei ran to the window. Heero snarled as well, cobalt eyes blazing as he and Shingami sprung for one another. WuFei ran between them, hurt in his eyes.

WuFei put his weapon between the two as they came at one another. He cried out as a silver blade landed on his side. Shingami’s eyes widened in horror as Silentum’s blood stained weapon struck his love. WuFei collapsed to the floor, blood staining his side. Shingami discarded his weapon and cradled the Chinese boy’s head in his arms.

"Bastard." Shingami screamed as he held his lover close, crying softly.

"If I can’t have him, no one will." Silentum said. He placed a soft kiss on WuFei’s forehead.

"Duo, I’ll be all right." WuFei whispered softly, a smile on his lips as he focused his full attention on Duo.

"Gods, Fei, I’ll save you. " Shingami whispered as he gathered his love in his arms.

"You can’t. I’m sorry Duo. Maybe we weren’t meant to be after all." WuFei said as velvet eyes closed one last time.

"No!" Shingami screamed as WuFei fell limp in his arms. Shingami heard a thud as Silentum fell to the floor, a slit throat his death.~~~~

Shingami awoke, sweat pouring from his brow. He looked around and WuFei was gone. He rose from his bed, threw on his pants and realized that his shirt was gone. Shingami summoned his weapon and headed outside.

WuFei wandered down the hallway in search of who had run across the door. As he reached the end, a door was left ajar. WuFei walked in and the door closed behind him and the click of the lock told him that it was locked.

"Who’s here?" WuFei asked as he tightened the grip on his staff.

"WuFei, it’s only me." A voice whispered very close to WuFei. Velvet eyes narrowed. The angel gasped as his weapon was removed from his hands and the brush of wings against his leg.

"Duo?" WuFei asked. Strong hands stroked at WuFei’s neck, a strange sensation clogging all of WuFei’s senses.

"Yes. Duo." the voice whispered as lips touched against his neck, teeth nipping delicately at his nape.

"I thought you were sleeping." WuFei whispered as those hungry lips claimed his, a hard bare chest against the fabric of his shirt.

"Let’s play a game Fei-chan." The voice whispered. WuFei nodded, velvet eyes devoid of any emotion, almost like a doll.

"I’m Heero, Silentum. You look so beautiful. Duo doesn’t deserve someone as loyal and beautiful as you." Heero whispered as he took off the black shirt that slid off WuFei like water off a duck’s back.

"Yes Heero." WuFei replied. Heero pushed the boy unto the bed in the room and climbed atop him, his desire reaching a frightening intensity.

"Gods Fei." Heero whispered as his lips tasted the beautiful body, WuFei moaning as those lips suckled against his neck, warm hands slipping under his pants. Heero moaned as slender fingers tangled in his dark locks, WuFei arching into Heero’s touch. Heero looked into velvet depths, regretting that he couldn’t see any emotion in them. If I did, this spell wouldn’t work. I am sorry WuFei, but this is the only way… Heero got off the flushed boy as he heard footsteps and muttering of curses in the hallway.

"Heero…" WuFei whined.

"I’ll be back soon. Drink this." Heero said as he poured a orange like liquid down WuFei’s throat. WuFei smiled and fell back against the sheets, sleep overtaking him. Heero pressed a kiss to WuFei’s lips and hid in a corner. Shingmai opened the door and found WuFei sleeping.

"WuFei?" he asked as he held his koi up, velvet eyes opening.

"Ummh, Duo. How did I get here?" WuFei asked as he opened his eyes. Shingami looked confused.

"I don’t know. I was still sleeping and when I woke up, you weren’t there." Shingami said as worried amethyst eyes portrayed their confusion.

"Well, whatever happened, it’s over. You’ve been having bad dreams lately; I can tell. Why won’t you tell me?" WuFei asked as he put his arms around his love, the scent of roses meeting his nose, reassuring him.

"I can’t explain. Not yet." Shingami said as he planted a kiss on WuFei’ s cheek and smiled. WuFei shook his head and lead his koi back to their room. Heero came out of the shadows and smiled. Patience is a virtue…
