Chapter 1 : MISSING YOU.

Johnny picked up his dog Bandit as he roamed through the Quest Compound on his hover board. Not that he needed to use the board that had seen him through so many of his adventures with his "family" but to keep alive the feel of air rushing through his blond locks as his lean muscled frame balanced naturally on the board. In all his sixteen years he had never felt so alone, a deep yearning in his heart for something he couldn’t have, couldn’t touch or possess no matter how intelligent and learned he was from all the tutoring he received since he was never in a real school.

" Hey Johnny, Hadji’s online." He heard Jesse’s voice make itself heard over his watch com link. He froze, if only for a moment. Hadji. Hadji had being gone for almost a year, managing things in his home in India, sultan to a great city.

"I’ll be right there Jess." He said as he guided his hover board to the lighthouse. Johnny could feel his mind give in to the nagging question that had plagued both his heart and mind ever since his friend had left. He and Hadji had been close friends. Johnny was outgoing and crazy and always acted on the spur of the moment. Hadji stayed to himself, immersed in his studies and usually thought things out longer than Johnny.

Hadji was the one who watched as he and Jesse plunged into dangerous adventures, always dragging him along. Oh sure he and Hadji had their own share of adventures without the pretty red head tagging along for the ride. Johnny wondered how Hadji could actually keep up with them when most of the rime he was either working with Dr.Quest or mediating. Hadji was the only friend despite their differences, his only real friend. Johnny wasn’t sure if what he felt for his friend was worth all that painstaking evaluation. Hadji was his inner peace, the comforting silence in a noisy world, his sanctuary from the life of perils which he led.

"Hey Hadji." Jesse said as she spoke to Hadji using the Quests’ videophone. Hadji smiled and waved.

"Hello Jesse. It’s good to see you again. I trust that you’re a safe driver?" he asked.

"Of course Hadji, Johnny however isn’t so fortunate." Jesse said as she pushed back a strand of red hair from her green eyes.

"Hey, it was just a little scratch." Johnny said as he entered the room.

"Hello Johnny. It’s good to see you again." Hadji said with a wave.

"How have you been? We all miss you. Me the most." Johnny said as he lifted Bandit for Hadji to see.

"Hello Bandit. I miss you all as well. Hopefully, I’ll be coming back soon." Hadji said.

"So Hadji, seeing anyone?" Jesse asked, green eyes lit with hope. Hadji was painfully aware of Jesse’s attraction to him. Hadji blushed. Johnny smiled. For a boy of sixteen, Hadji certainly hadn’t changed.

"No Jesse. My mother helps me with that." Hadji replied. Johnny could have sworn he heard Jesse stop breathing. Hadji’s answer wasn’t too much of a shock. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches of gorgeous brown skin, lean muscles, coffee brown eyes that shone gold when excited, under a white turban, black silk locks stayed hidden from the world. He was polite, and extremely good with the whole ‘ism’ thing. And Jesse’s crush wasn’t helping Hadji’s general shyness of girls one bit.

"Hey Hadji, are you sure you’ll be back soon?" Johnny questioned, blue eyes waiting for an answer.

"Yes Johnny, I’m sure. I better go. Give my regards to Dr.Quest and Race." Hadji said as he prepared to stand.

"Sure. Hey Haj, how do I look?" Johnny asked.

"What do you mean?" Hadji asked puzzled.

"I mean, do I look healthy? Ever since you left let’s just say nutrition isn’t worth a damn." Johnny said with a wink.

"I thought that the habit of swearing wasn’t active. And yes you look fine." Hadji said with an amused smile.

"Hey everyone but you and dad swear. I’m sure you guys do but you use words that would take weeks to find in a dictionary. And of course, sarcasm. Sarcasm’s good." Johnny said with a laugh.

"Ah yes. Well goodbye my friends." Hadji said as he bowed and his face disappeared off the screen.

End of chapter 1

Takeo – I like to sing and dance, and swim in the sea, la la la la la.
Hadji – Is she all right?
Johnny – I have no idea.
