TEN BASIC RULES OF SPRINGFIELD CRICKET TOURNAMENT

 

1) Length of the Game:

Each Match shall consist of 30 overs except for finals (35 Overs).

Each fielding side will be allowed 2 hours 30 min to complete their 30 overs quota with a single 10 mins break or 10 mins two breaks (if it is too hot).

For finals 35 overs match total allowed time is 3 hrs fielding side.

2) Starting time:

Starting time shall be 10.00 am sharp. Each captain should submit a team by 9.55 am and no less than 8 players can take the field.

In situation where a team is unable to start the game on time (+ considerable grace period of 30 mins) the toss will be awarded to the opposing team.

Once a grace period of 1 hr elapsed the game is forfeited.

 

3) Bad Weather/ Bad light

If the game is not completed due to bad weather and less than 20 overs of the 2nd inning is completed, the result will be recorded as a draw with each team receiving 2 points each.

If the game is not completed due to bad light or bad weather, the decision will be made using the run-rate of the 1st 20 overs of the innings, for each team. In case there is still a tie, the decision will be based on the number of wickets out.

 

4) Points:

Points will be awarded as follows:

Win 4 Points

Walk Over

4 Points (to the team receiving the walkover)

-2 Points (to the team giving the walkover)

Draw

2 Points (to each team)

Other

Decision of the Executive Committee

 

5) No Balls - Short Pitched Bowling

If the ball passes or would have passed above the shoulder height of the striker standing upright at the crease, either official Umpire shall call and signal ‘No Ball’.

The penalty shall be one run for the no ball, plus any run(s) scored on that delivery.

 

6) Wides:

Any offside or leg side delivery, which, in the opinion of the Umpire, does not give the batsman a reasonable opportunity to score, shall be called a wide. As a guide, on the leg side a ball landing clearly outside the leg stump going away shall be called wide.

A penalty of one run plus any runs scored shall be scored as wides.

The wide rule shall be applied to the whole match. (not like slog overs one rule etc..)

 

7) Best Batsman

9) Match Report

Each captain is required to fill out and submit the match score sheet immediately after the match as per the format specified

 

10) Others

a) Tournament Fee : $ 25

b) Team members must behave with a disciplined gentlemanly attitude at all games.

c) Inner Circle: should we really do this..?

d) Players are required to wear WHITE/OFF WHITE/CREAM pant, shirt, socks and shoes.

e) Players are not allowed to wear spikes footwear while bowling or batting.

f) Umpires are the final authority during the game. Their decisions are final decisions. If any team leaves the field they will automatically forfeit the game.
