red.velvet.stereo is a mutt-rock band hailing
from lakeland, fl. the band was formed in jan of 2000
when phillip and charlie met while working at tgi
fridays in the fall of 1999. these two began
experimenting around to get a feel for each others
writing styles. as time progressed they decided they
wanted to take it further. marc was brought in
october and a bit later bobby finalized their line-up.
the group first worked under the name flip-skip-
millard but soon decided to change their name to it's
current status. after playing many shows marc decided
that he would rather concentrate solely on his guitar
work and allow someone else to take over vocals. soon
after jamie was brought in to take over those
responsibilities. After differences of opinion and
some conflict Mark McCarthy left the band and Bobby
soon followed suit. Joe Setney stepped into take over
Mark's place and red.velvet.stereo played several
shows with fill in bass players. Then they found a new
guy that fit the mold and stuck. Enter Justin Stirk on
bass, and there you have red.velvet.stereo. their
style variates from rock to alternative to surf rock.
some of their collective influences consist of: 311,
at the drive-in, bob marley, clutch, dave matthews
band, deftones, jimmy eat world, rush, the pixies,
pantera and many more. with a very eclectic view on
music you can expect to hear a sound like no
other.
