Robin was "born to sing swing." Her father played fiddle and guitar with many greats of the day and she remembers Bob Wills "sleeping" on their couch and T. Texas tyler bouncing her on his knee. The first time she sang publicly, she was almost two years old. It was at an N.C.O. Club where she sang "Honeycomb' with Ann Jones All Girl Western Band. From that point on she was hooked! She sang with her father on the radio, Musicians Union functions, nursing care facilities, and private parties until the age of 15 when she was granted special permission to sing in dance halls. By the age of 17 she had her frist group, "The Rubber Band." Robin played Bass Guitar and did the vocals. They played a host of private parties as well as fraternal organizations. Later teaming up with her father, she fronted "Wayne Thomas and His Starfires." During this time she played piano and did the lead vocals. This band had eight members and great three part harmony and was well known for their dancibility, performing strictly Western Swing. Many opportunities came her way and she got the role of Bloody Mary in "South Pacific" starring Howard Keel. She then went on to perform in "Guys and Dolls" with Soupy Sales, "Anything Goes" with Shirley McLaine, "Oklahoma" with Leonard Nemoy and "Bye Bye Birdie" with Dick Gautier. Although this was a remarkable time, it failed to provide her with the spontaneity of the bandstand. So back she came to the music of her roots. This time teaming up with women she had known, she formed "Robin John and The Home Town Stars." They played the "Reno Circut, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Nevada. They had a grueling schedule and were favorites wherever they performed. Robin has worked with some of the most well known performers of our time. Kris Kristofferson, Hank Thompson, Bennie Garcia, Merle Haggard, B.B. King and Rose Maddox to name a few. Her "Heart To Heart" CD remained in the top ten for eleven months. Her latest CD, "Wanted: Robin Deeter, The Queen Of Western Swing," rapidly climbed the charts in it's first weeks of release and continues to maintain it's appeal and chart positions. Her first release off the "Wanted" CD went to number four on the Top 100 Country Charts. Among other things, this year Robin toured England and opened for Ray Price. Robin just completed her latest CD, MOODSWINGS, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Her new videos have just been completed as well. ************************************************************* I dedicated my first CD to my father and although I don't mention him as often as I would like, without his guidence and patience I would never have had the great musical training I received. Before he passed away in 1988 we asked him what he would like us to do, he said,"keep my music alive!" He was inducted into the Seattle Western Swing Hall of Fame in August 1998.
