King of May by Natalie Merchant
*The Thirty First*
Wow... be a while, huh? ;-) Life is going on, the same usual stuff, really. Weather is still COLD compared to what it SHOULD be. But at least the sun is shining and it isn't raining as much. I got all my Finnish gifts taken care of for my family- I was so happy last night wrapping them up. Feels like Christmas! I'm sceduled to go to England on the 11th of June- I'm terribly excited about it. England is THE dream country for me- I've wanted to go there since I was 7 and I first read Alice in Wonderland... my friends are starting to go home now- back to their own countries. I still have 27 whole days left... I admit that I wish I had only... er, 7 days left, but I get freaked out just thinking about 27. That's less than four weeks, right? ;-) I might add something for the month of June on this site, but I'm not sure. I really should- just to say hi and then something at the end to say that I made it home safely. This is a pretty interesting journal, I think- even tho I left out all the gushy love scenes and obscenites and radical notions and whatnot. ;-) Maybe I'll get weepy preachy in June and tell everyone how much I advocate the entire exchange program- which I do...
*The Twelfth*
The twelfth already? ;-) I went up to Raahe for a week to visit my friend, Emily. Definitely very small town, but I had a nice time. It was colder up there than it was here- only early 60s up there, max, but when a friend called me up there from here, she said that it was about 80 here in the sun. Now that I'm back, it hasn't gotten that hot at all, but it has been fairly nice. I just want to get back to the heat. I'm not feeling so productive at the moment, but I'm not worried about it. All my socks have holes in them and, for some reason, a sock diappears each day, it seems. ;-) But I refuse to buy more socks when my mother has a whole package of socks waiting for me at home. That- and this here is sandal and barefoot weather! My room is practically infested with house spiders, which isn't particularly fun when I'm trying to sleep. I haven't seen any since my return a few days, ago, tho... I'm still crossing days off the calendar... ;-)
*The Third*
A girl named Sonja emailed me this Natalie Merchant song and told me that it meant a lot to her, so to please use to for the month of May. Because she emailed me back in Febrary, I'll bet she's forgotten that I even have a website!... I am up in the small town of Raahe with my friend, Emily. She visited the last week of April, so I'm here this week. We took the train. It was horrid. Yesterday, we walked around like zombies in school. I don't know... being in Raahe has made me all nostalgic cos on the way through, we've seen more tractors and fields than we both probably care to admit, but sigh... miss that stuff, anyway... The weather is COLD here... okay, about 9 degrees celcius, which is March weather, at home. No snow, at least! And we're on the water! I go home soon! I'm guilty of crossing days off the calendar.
