I dropped out of college back in 1998 to persue the power of song & dance through strictly electronic media. I abandoned my International Relations discipline to chase music, film, design, writting, and other ideas. Since I was a young boy, I've always loved music. So Dj'ing was an obvious alternative. I bought some turntables and taught myself the craft of seemless mixing. Interestingly, there are many styles of music that influence me. Among them are: Drum & Bass, Funk, Soul, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Ska, Dub, & Reggae. Vocally, I enjoy soulful divas, ragga mc's, toasting, freestyle mc's, and slam poets.
People often ask why I quit persuing International Relations. The answer is that I have not. Currently, I have many international contacts who I communicate with frequently. Also felt that electronic dance music was transcending all of the bullshit that politicians try to control & correct, so I jumped on the bandwagon.
Finally, I have not settled on one type of music to enjoy. Why try when you have the ability to love the infinite variety of music of the world has to offer? There's no sense in that. That's why I choose Hip Hop, Drum & Bass, & Dance Hall as my prime movers, because they are extremely versatile and adept at incorporating different styles of music through sampling & rhythmic structure.
Now unfortunately due to some bad financial decisions I was forced sell my two Technic 1200's. However, I do still keep all of the records I purchased over the last year. Hopefully, I will land some gig's in the near future to help earn back that dough to replace my baby's.
