things to do in my hometown
I’m just now beginning this website so it’s nothing to be proud of. Eventually I hope to have info about myself, my life, my hometown and some of my dearest friends as well as a weekly satirical column, links to everywhere and anywhere and free midi and sheet music downloads of my works. For starters, I’ll blather about myself in no detail because Les Miserables style bios are more boring than Sally Struthers’s life. My name is Daniel Monzingo though I’ve adopted the name Aleks in order to hide and I’m your average 17 year-old Joe: bored to tears, ready to escape from home, idealistic to my own detriment, almost completely deprived of intellectualism and sick to death of the high school experience. I live in the sleepy southern hamlet of Nacogdoches, Texas. At times, I wish I were dead, or that the whole place would be designated Ground Zero for a particularly large firebomb. I listed a few things to do here and it’s no exaggeration; inbreeding is the citywide pastime, mullets (if don’t know what this is, you’ve been blessed) are on stylistic par with Armani and the Super Walmart is the hub of social and economic livelihood. I play the piano with relative virtuosity and I hack along with the euphonium, trombone, cello and violin with limited success. I’m a member of the Showstoppers Choir under the direction of the Millers, two of the most fascinating people I’ve ever met, and I’m in the High School band. I write music extensively and plan to study composition at university (if I ever make it) and, as I wrote earlier, will post sheet music for download; I encourage you to play it, study and distribute it so long as I’m given credit. It’s not easy to write six minutes of music and it’s my art and expression. If you do perform it, or simply want to talk about, email me! I’ll be thrilled to hear from you. I’ll construct a forum for commentary on the music and, if you play it, record it (if possible) and I’ll post it on the music page. If I had a wreck, I’d be mistaken for a flattened turtle.
