Setting
up shop is where I've been; now that Kayo's parents have moved out,
we've got the whole place to ourselves, so the last few days have
been a flurry of moving around furniture, setting up the computer
(easy) and TV (impossible -- it took four days and a professional's
help -- because we got Wowow and BS, plus the 8 usual stations, and
it's just a mess -- all the different converters and plugs you need,
and which machine handles what decoding and when in the stream it
does so.. ugh! It's really ridiculous. I've spent an ungodly number
of hours clambering behind TVs, VCRs, and stereos, plus I did Radio/TV/Film
for my B.A., and I think I know a lot, but this whole Wowow/BS thing,
my god).
So
we've re-arranged furniture a bunch of times, and changed around the
apartment -- I should say -I- changed it all around; Kayo was happy
the way it was (with bookshelfs half-blocking doors! And flammable
garbage stacked next to the oven! And no feng shui sensibilities at
all!)!!!
Now, the worst is over, but she actually said to me, "I hope
you're done now - you're never satisfied with anything," like
that was a bad thing! Yes, very rare is the time when I am
satisfied! I like to progress, not stagnate, dammit! (This is what
I was thinking... but I only nodded and muttered an agreeable "uh
huh" to her, because it was late and we're both cranky and the
last thing you wanna do before going to bed is be pissed off at each
other.)
So
basically I've been too busy to go to concerts or do much shopping...
although it looks like I'll be getting to the Dir en grey show on
8/24. Oh, and I got a slew off 3" singles, mostly Aikawa Nanase
and Luna Sea ones, for Y20, at this little store we found while Kayo
was searching for a new rice cooker and I was searching for a new
stereo. I got a dozen singles, most with b-sides, for Y240! Hehe!
Oh,
damn, and this morning, this locust was apparently sunning itself
on the steps, and I thought it was just an empty shell (it was on
its back!)... so I ignored it and kept walking up the stairs, and
as soon as I planted my foot next to it, just three or four inches
away, it sprang to life screaming this monkey-like Eeeek! Eeeekkk!
sound, and flew away, with those crackly, ugly-sounding wings. Scared
the crap outta me.
Oh,
and at Disk Hell the other day, remember that dude I mentioned, the
english-speaking one with the ad hanging up who was looking for a
band, whom I emailed? (Jeez, was that a sentence I just typed?!) He
replied! But he recently joined a group and he was all set... "but
good luck," he said. Fah! I don't want luck, I wanna jam on stage!
